Well, seems almost all the details are worked out. We now have a go for launch! Since they wanted him there so quickly, we asked for a another £1k, and they said yes! 
They are going to buy his plane ticket and then deposit the remainder relo funds into our Lloyd's account.
We now have about 2 weeks to organize a 16' truck with a tow hitchy thing on it, and drive back across the country to my folks house so we can leave/sell our stuff there. Gotta turn in our notices, and hope the apartment manager will work with us on the break lease situation (as we just signed a new 6mo lease). I also need to send off for my passport renewal and get started on our cats shipping. Thank God that is sooo much easier/quicker now.
So much to do, in so little a time period! Edinburgh here we come!!

Great news.
I'm pleased you got all the details worked out. There's a couple of decent threads about DEFRA rules and requirements on here too, it would be worth looking at those to get some tips on shipping the cats back, to ensure they get a smooth trip and no holdups.

I've been in Edinburgh since 13 Sept. I've had a delay in getting back to work as there was some question about my visa eligibility, but that's all been squared away now and I'm simply waiting for an imaged laptop to be shipped to me so I can start getting paid again. We are settling into our flat and buying things that we need. So far, we're not feeling as frustrated and stressed as we did back in 2011 when we moved back. Maybe we are more prepared this time on what we need to do to adapt to living here. Attitude is probably making all the difference.
Can't deny that we are simply pigging out on the food. Everywhere I look in Asda I see new crisp flavors and candy and other junk foods I can't resist trying out. Oh, and we have a lovely pub just a 5minute walk away that has great food - I think it just may become a regular haunt of ours.

I love Edinburgh, I'm sure you will have a wonderful time exploring and walking off all that junk food.
