Thank God for the new Texas Speed limits, now my 350 Mile Dallas to Midland/Odessa trip can be safely (NO TICKETS) be done in 4:30 hrs....Just a little over the limit.........After 10 years here, I have one dismissed ticket and 3 warnings, one in Williamson County.........AMAZING for those in Texas. So lead foot friends, lets hear those stories.

What's the speed limit now?
FIL now has a 6 hr round trip daily commute for work, it's only about 340 miles, up in Maine...though as he's nipping off before midnight, he'll probably be able to do it a lot quicker.

They just increased the speed limit on I-95 in northern Maine to 75mph, so now if you hit a moose you're even more dead.

I noticed they made the exit on I-95/295 around Portland to one of those recommended 45mph limits, rather than 25mph actual speed limit...that was a good money earner zinging people as they exited

75 on I20 and some parts of I45 to Houston are up to 80. A new toll road near Austin will be 85 when it opens.

Yes, it's a bit mental...he's been mostly working a site that was an hour away for the last year, that would take 2-3 hours in the winter but did have a short spell at a site that was 10 minutes away and he didn't know what to do with all that extra time
He's the chap that marks out which trees get cut, so needs to be there early, then he strips and cuts the trees to length that have already been cut down ready to be loaded onto the trucks.

Yeah, that sucks in some ways but when I drove down to Texas City to fish the 80 mph was nice most of the way there, shave a lot of time off the trip from Dallas, of course you tend to drift over by a few miles an hour that helps to get there faster.

Texas passes laws but is slow to react. Example: how long did it take to take down the 65 mph night time speed limit signs after the law changed?
I got caught 'drifting' a few mph over the 65 on I20 by one of those small town cops east of Abilene who have jurisdiction over the interstate at a very quiet 1 am. I was told that speeding tickets issued by their 1 and only all night cop paid for all the sports equipment at the local high school every year. I was told that they maintained the 65MPH in their county.
All I can say is just make sure you can afford to 'fly' over to Midland.
