I think in this case they may well be landlocked so not getting their status renewed.
They would be deported/able if they have no status.

I think i'll just stick to holidays at this rate!
It's all doom and gloom! I was going to invest 200000 bucks in the U.S economy, but it just seems like I get punished for that.
Don't think I can live with the uncertainty of weather i'll have a home and business each year, that's not fair on my wife.
Maybe when things calm down in a few years the government will make immigration laws more sensible, and i'll re-consider!

"Xavier de Marchi, who owns the single storefront Cafe de Paris on Indian Rocks Beach's main road, had his business visa denied by U.S. Embassy officials in Paris late last month because his bakery wasn't big enough."

You weren't going to 'invest' 200K, you were going to spend most of it on living expenses.. and in what way are you being 'punished'?
Face it, the US system is such that ALL of us live with the uncertainty of whether we'll have a home or a job/business next year; that is the nature of the opportunity system we live with.
This is nothing to do with things calming down or immigration law getting more sensible; that statement just demonstrates that you are looking at this from the wrong end of the stick.
The US needs major immigration reform, but it is not going to be geared to make 'moving to Florida' easier for folks like yourselves.
You can read more about the E visas here; maybe it will give you some context.

And Paris is a lot easier on E2's than London.

Nothing is stopping you from investing your money in the US. You don't need to live in the US to do that. What "punishment" are you talking about?
If you're really keen to do this, how about starting your business in the UK and gaining some experience... if the business is not sucessful you at least won't have to leave the country. If it is successful, work on building it to the point where you can expand internationally.

I personally consider purchasing vehicles etc as investing in the economy! Call me stupid but there you go!
I was NEVER treating it like a holiday! I find that a little upsetting! I was preparing to take on a business operating 70+ hours a week, not including tax returns, invoicing, paperwork etc. Some holiday!
How can one live without transport, insurance, etc and only a fool would move thousands of miles across the world with no savings for back up!
IMHO punishment comes in the form of me not knowing whats just around the corner. I dont take 200000 dollars lightly, it might be a small sum to you folk, but thats my life savings. It's punishing knowing that although you're running a succesfull business, its fate is in some one elses hands.
I want to be the god of my own 200000 bucks and the god of my own destiny, not some suit with no clue about business or the real world.
It's a real shame that you are treated like a second classs citizen just because you happened to be born in a different country, though immigrants are the lifeblood of the US as we know it.
And breath................!

If you said you had $2,000,000 to invest the replies would be different.
