The longer I'm here though..the more resistant I seem to be. My first couple of years here, I would swell up something awful! |

It looks like they actually have a specific skin so soft bug repellent now. I don't know if that works or not. I've always stuck with the oil. Apparently when they came out with the oil, people discovered that it repelled bugs, but they couldn't advertise as such because that wasn't a legally "approved" use for the product. Don't know if that's true or not. |
Re: Mosquitos
Well thankyou all for the tips! I am glad it is not just me that swells up like a balloon when I get bitten, the horse flies seem to be worse, then I really swell up! (so much so that the missus managed to persuade herself that I had been bitten by a spider!) Might try the vitamin thing and maybe the garlic tablets, but I am really wanting something I don't have to mess about with (creams, sprays etc!) just me being slobbish really! I was talking to a friend yesterday who told me that Gin is meant to sour the blood and that it keeps them away, now I suppose I can justify being constantly pissed! Any other tip and tricks obviously welcome!
Thanks again! :D |

Will my body get used to the bites over time, or am I stuck with this as long as they continue to fly round and breed? I do realise I am not in the best location in the world to avoid the critters, but haven't much choice at the mo!
PMSL - you aint seen nothing until you've been bitten by a Canadian black fly (or deer fly)! They actually take skin with them. |

Bit late in the season now to bring this up but I guess summer is truly over here in Michigan. Thank you JerseyGirl for your recommendation. It definitely worked for me, and hubby was also very impressed with it ... he "borrowed" it when he needed to clear our neighbours' crap adjoining our property!!! When I reach the elusive 100 posts to enable me to give karma, the very first one I shall give will be to you. |

Not only does it work but it's much better than covering yourself in all those nasty/harmful creams and sprays. :) Thank you for taking the time to reply. |
