Mosquitos
Just wondered if anyone can help! I seem to react worse than others when it comes to these biting bastards, just wondered if anyone knew if there is an easier way to avoid being bitten, other than the obligatory insect repellent? Will my body get used to the bites over time, or am I stuck with this as long as they continue to fly round and breed? I do realise I am not in the best location in the world to avoid the critters, but haven't much choice at the mo!

Hang up some CD's. That'll spook 'em.

Might help. I still haven't gotten used to the critters and I've been here nearly a decade. The other year I went out to a bbq at a friend's campsite, and got eaten alive by no-see-ums, aka sand fleas. Took over two weeks for the bites to heal!! |

Re: Mosquitos
I've found dousing myself in Barbecue lighter fluid and setting fire to myself keeps the little buggars away. It's quite an Ice breaker at Parties as well.

Re: Mosquitos
Oddly enough i've never been bitten by a mosquito in my life.. they even land on me..and fly off.. meanwhile they have a regular feast on my SO..maybe drink lots and lots of beer. Thats all i can think of.

Re: Mosquitos
DEET is indeed your friend :D
but citrus oils aren't bad either...and yeah, you do get use to the bites after a couple years... |
Re: Mosquitos
Try this:
http://lentek.com/Main/Main.asp?SubC...&CategoryID=4& I bought it from Costco about 3 yrs ago but haven't seen it anywhere since. It really worked for me. I am usually plagued by mossies, horse flies, gnats, wasps etc., I react badly to their bite/sting which takes several weeks, sometimes a month or more to disappear. Before finding this I used the sprays, but if I missed a tiny piece of skin they would bite me there. |
