Berts Bees does a citronella anti bug spray that works ... also i've heard that having a drier sheet (bounce or the like) tucked in your belt works. For me the first worked the latter didnt. Keeping a supply of benedryl is handy too.

A doctor just recommended taking vit b12 to a friend of mine, i've been eaten alive since getting here and have a nasty reaction to the bites so i'm phobic, i'm going to try the Vitb12 but i use the the wipes with the spray on them, burn citronella whenever i'm outside.

I also react really badly to mosquito bites, been here four years and still react the same. I have been taking vitamin B1 and a non drowsy antihistamine every day since the beginning of May this year, Ive been bitten a few times and havent had a bad reaction so it seems to be working. I still use the spray though.

After Bite, that stick works wonders when you get a bite, basically it's pure ammonia, feels like it, and dont' half make you pucker, but it takes the itch and swelling away

I just had a friend who lives in Japan e-mail me, she said that she gets eaten alive and she has found the cure to heal the bites, desitin! It's a baby bum nappy rash cream, really thick to spread. She said she put some on a bite and the bite was all clear the next day, no more itching or oozing...might be worth a try?

I'm the same and sometimes, if I have been bitten a lot, it makes me feel quite ill. I hate using the sprays because of the nastiness of the DEET as well. I do the garlic and lemon juice and that does help a little bit.

Taking an antihistamine everyday staring about a month before you will need it does help but it doesn't stop being bitten.

What I have found is if I have a bite, putting ice on it for an hour or two keeps the swelling down straight away and quickens the recovery.

And I've found that my reaction, after over 7 years, has not only stayed the same, but at times has been worse. It depends on what bites me - horse fly, midge or mossie.

Mossie bites look like boils on me and horse/deer flies are even worse and can take a couple of months to go completely. If I have the bite shield clipped on I find they leave me alone. I love to float around for hours in the pool topping up the tan, this is where they really make a meal of me. I even clip the bite shield onto my cossie and they leave me alone.

I have a huge boil on my leg at the moment from a mossie.I went to the doctor and he gave me steroid cream.They are really bad this year. I'm getting bitten every time I go out.

Try Bite Shield from the link I posted earlier. When I use it I don't get bitten by anything.

Have heard bad things about DEET and good ones about Bounce (dryer sheets, though only if you wipe ypour skin with it.) Also, Skin So Soft, an Avon product but as I've never reacted to mosquitoes I can't say for sure if it actually works.

Deet melts synthetic materials that it comes into contact with, so it speaks for itself. If you forget to cover a small area of skin with a repellent the bugs will bite you there. I forgot to put it on a toe and the next day it was swollen so much I couldn't get my shoe on. Dryer sheets do not work.

Thought it was just me, I too am being eaten alive and bites seem to take forever to heal, nothing seems to stop the bites but I got some camomile lotion and it dryed bites out better than other stuff i've tried. Doesn't look so pretty though!
I am not sure if its mossies or ants, but last night there was a massive ant on my pillow.
