Measuring

It is laziness thing to measure foods buy the cup in the US? I have hard time finding cook books that require weighing.
So when a recipe says a cup of bread pieces does that mean a level cup, heaped cup or slightly pressed down? same thing for mini marshmellow?
I am thinking I should just have my sister bring me over a couple english cook books. I am too much of a perfectionist to use cup measurments.

Actually for most things it is not a problem however I still prefer weighing... old habits die hard I guess.

After my very useful purchase of measuring cups, I find it sooooooooooo much easier than weighing stuff out. And my husband even told with me with great glee that our mugs hold exactly a cup.... bless him :-)
Try it out, its easy, honest!

There must be loads of conversion charts around - maybe you could stick one on your fridge for ease if you prefer weighing?

Usually it's a level cup unless though sometimes I'll see recipes that call for a 'packed cup' or 'compressed cup' in which you have to push it down a bit.
I generally start following directions but in the end add and subtract stuff until I think it is about right (and usually tastes awful).

Unless you're baking, precise measurement is overrated.
