Re: Meanwhile in Florida
I've been to Miami and Orlando. I thought Miami was a fairly nice place, but not sure if Miami is representative pf the state as a whole.
The driving habit of people in Miami was bonkers, never seen such bad driving. |

We manged to catch it once during a large Carribean rap weekend. Ocean Drive, South beach was slammed with young female pedestrians dressed in what can only be described as the barest of very loose fitting nightwear, a chap in an open top Rolls Royce pulled up to the sidewalk to skin up before chilling out, skunk was everywhere and while following the recommendations of Tripadvisor for getting the best view of the beach from a certain hotel rooftop we managed to gate crash a fully tooled-up rapper's rooftop drug/sex party - all of which might be expected after dark but this was early afternoon. |
Re: Meanwhile in Florida
I love Tampa for 4 reasons:
- 2x rounds of golf, - 1x larking around the pirate ship watching the buccs, - 1x weekend only, then get the hell out (edit: per year). |

Keeping things local, there's always one and it always seems to be my neck of the woods...

Re: Meanwhile in Florida
Can anyone recommend a decent area to find a detached house (to live) within an hour of Orlando international?
I hear FL horror stories of neighbors partying all hours, rednecks in huge trucks and an invasion of the Puerto Ricans. Sounds a lot like Birmingham! |
Re: Meanwhile in Florida
There are lots of Puerto Ricans in Brum, I didn't know.

Hopefully at least some of them are doing the jobs that native English people are too bone lazy to take on. |

Firstly welcome to BE, a quick read back on this thread you've posted on would reveal that this is our 'WTF in Florida' thread and possibly not the best place to post about house-hunting, horror stories though you'll find aplenty!! Have yourself a quick peruse of the site, probably best to start your own thread rather than jump in on another to get better answers. Florida is no different than any other area, pick and choose your residential location according to the kind of neighbours you fancy, gated communities and the pricier of sub divisions are great for a vanilla existence but shit can always go down anywhere at any time just like any other place on the globe, no matter how fancy. I'm a bit outside your search criteria area but you might want to give a rough idea of which area of Orlando that you want to be an hour away from and presumably you're talking about timings during the rush hour which will make a huge difference to your residential location. Puerto Ricans aren't a problem round here, older white assholes are. Florida ends up as a dumping ground for the rest of the states, those who can afford to come and go do, the flavoursome types who can't afford to come and go end up here permanently because they can't afford to leave and give rise to the popular Floridaman trope. |

Craving some Florida weather to be honest.

Starting in January every year I think a lot about Florida. We usually go down for a few days but after this virus next winter I want to greatly expand on that. Tennessee winters aren’t that bad but the older I get the more I hate cold weather. We did have two days in high 60’s last week.

I’m a thousand miles north of you, and it’s -13 right now. I’ll go out for a walk, but layered up. Yeah I think about FL around this time of year. Mind you, sometimes we can go to Cape Cod, just 400 miles away, and it’s almost like Florida there (comparable to an English winter day - mild, sunny spells.)

Re: Meanwhile in Florida
Sorry to disappoint most of you but Florida has not been much warmer than NE SC this year.
