Personally, I find the whole 'McCain's too old' argument kind of offensive. Don't support McCain for whatever reason (his foul temper being a good one) but I don't understand where 'young' people get off suddenly writing mature folks off when they get to a certain age.

When we're teenagers, we all think we know everything and that our parents don't have a clue. From the reaction of some people regarding McCain, I think the same thing's true at about 35, when we start dismissing our parents as doddering old farts.

The truth is, they've still got twice our entire's lifetime's experience and instead of swaggering about thinking we're so damn smart, maybe we should shut up and listen to them once in a while.

The fact still remains he is 72 and people will be more interested in who he chooses as his VP because 2 years down the line he'll be moving over, I reckon. It's one thing having a lifetime's experience but that can be translated as being very set in his ways.

You're right. It'll be a change after eight years of a president who's quick to change his course of action if he suspects it's wrong.

Sorry but both Bush and McCain bore the pants off me, when they are on TV I'm reaching for the TV remote to switch over.

Roland I don't think 72 is too old...I think John McCain is too old. Yes in many cases wisdom comes with age but for this particular job you must be physically fit and mentally astute. John McCain comes across as neither IMHO.

Did you see this one?

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24844889

so it turns out that McC's campaign co-chair (Phil Gramm) was a paid bank lobbyist while advising him on economic policies.

"...When Gramm chaired the Senate Banking Committee, he wrote and passed deregulatory legislation in more than one industry, establishing himself as a pre-eminent foe of government regulation. McCain’s March 26 speech recommended further deregulation of the banking industry as his response to the mortgage crisis.

McCain and Gramm have been friends for more than a decade. McCain chaired Gramm’s 1996 presidential run and Gramm says the two men speak every day. McCain reportedly has hinted Gramm might serve as his Treasury secretary..."

You are right Roland. Him being a member of the Republican Party is enough reason for me; wouldn't vote for him based on that fact alone.

Actually, he comes across someone suffering from PTSD -- which he probably is.

Wasn't one of Obama's campaign advisers found to be a top lobbyist for a large electrical company in Illinois? (Time magazine this week)

It's not optimal for the president to die on the job. (Well, I suppose that might depend on the president, but overall, it's generally better if they can go the distance and survive the gig.)

McCain has had cancer and had a tough time over in Vietnam, so it's fair to question whether he will be able to survive the job and perform optimally for the entirety of the term. I know that Bush the Younger has turned it into an extended vacation plan, but most presidents actually commit long hours to the job and age visibly while doing it.

We've already had one Republican president who went senile during his watch. I'm not eager to add another to the list.

To be honest with you ,I'm not surprised.McCain has far too many connections with Lobbyiest in my opinion to be considered anything near a real maverick. The man knew he was going to run for president yet he didn't even bother for appearence sake to surround him self with a campaign team who don't have sleazy ties to corruption.

Gramm & Black are exactly the kind of men who share McCain's values and his plans for this country which is why John defends them just like he did yesterday. They all have sold Americans out for the purpose of putting money in their own pocket. They have no shame at all and they count on getting away with it thinking that the average American is either too busy living their life to notice or care, or hoping that most Americans are too dumb to figure out the scam.

McCain is with out question in bed with the financial institutions that have taken advantage of home owners who have lost their homes due to under handed lending practises. When you connect the dots to what McCain said back in March, him saying he was not going to help home owners who were about to go into foreclosure, and then look at McCain's buddies like Gramm who has finger prints on the home lending collaspe.

Its not difficult to figure out why McCain is dangerous to the future of this country.Bush has nearly bankrupted our country,McCain would greatly worsen the situation and would keep us in Iraq for 50 years which would make him a hero with his friends among the lobbyiest who represent our arms dealers!! Scary stuff to know these men will sell us all out for a few shinny bits of gold.

Sad thing is,many people will fall for the line of bull that McCain is selling. So many good people don't even bother to become better informed. And I will never understand why poor people vote for the republican party.Republicans don't sponsor programs that enable the working class to improve their lot in life.Amazing!!
