Default Maggots..

I have found maggots in my kitchen this morning. Called terminex they can't come out.. Called someone else, they won't come out. Was told to find the source. Absolutely not looking for anything.. OH on his way home

But I am finding them randomly around the kitchen.. at the 'source' how many are likely to be found? I know thats a broad question.. but will one fly produce like hundreds or what?

Please, please don't post me a link.. I tried that and ended up crying hysterically

Very, very freaked out..

Ewww sorry no help here. I'm battling ants today.
One fly can produce a ridiculous mount of maggots. Hope you find the source soon.

How do you know they're maggots?
I mean, I know what they look like but does anything else look like that? I'm pretty sure I've never had maggots.

Mealy moths will get into stuff tho, and they can eat right through packaging.

It is horrendous.. I feel physically sick.. still can't find source - had the whole trash compactor out, and can't find source.

Just in the process of dismantling the kitchen.. then the rest of the house

Just saw this on your FB. Don't flies usually lay their eggs in something dead? Like a dead mouse or something?

Photo is not too gross.
I didn't know they are mostly called pantry moths. Usually you'd notice the moths first and they are in the cupboards or flying loose. The moth is quite small.

good luck. If they are mealy/pantry moths, freeze them. And put loose bay leaves in the cupboards to repel future residents.

Oh ok.. my neighbour had warned me about them a few months back and infact I bought all new airtight containers for flour etc..

That pic of the maggot looks similar though.. I checked the cupboard, seems ok.

Thank you

Samba are you still there?

Unless they're from the moths Mo mentioned they must be coming from something that's rotting. Do you know where they are coming from...a bin in the kitchen...food in a cupboard...maybe even a dead animal?

I empty my kitchen bin every day and I keep spraying it with Lysol. I keep the main bin in the garage so animals don't get in it. I spray that with Lysol every day too.

I've just read Noorah's link and it seems bug spray doesn't kill them. I'd pour bleach on them...I wonder if salt would kill them? Then you really need to find out where they are coming from.

The flour moths do go through a "maggot" stage, we have to be careful with bulk bird seed, you have to be sure there are none in it at the shop before you buy it.

I don't think thats what they are.. I have just started clearing the pantry and found some crawling on the floor.. cue more tears But I have found them all over the kitchen floor, so they probably just crawled in there - none on the shelves.

Apart from those ones I'm not finding anymore - OH is convinced they came from the bin, but we took the whole unit out and found none. (we haven't actually opened the bag that I emptied this morning )

I can not believe how utterly pathetic I am about it.. OH is getting very impatient with me at this stage

Ask OH if he would rather have the babies!

We are allowed to be scared or pathetic when it comes to creepy crawlies...it's how we make the men look like heroes!
