The worst is to come overnight, but as of now, nothing bad to report. Electric flickered a couple of times.

I think you may be OK with regards to the wind, it's just the 9ft storm surge that may cause you issues.

Thanks for keeping us posted.

I remember one presenter from some Aussie breakfast show having a go at me during the Brisbane floods. She threatened to report me to my boss for not allowing her to use an 'executive make-up room' when I told her all we had was basic Ladies/Gents toilets. I have this vivid memory of telling her we were a Disaster Coordination Centre not a home for spoilt divas and I had better things to think about than the state of her lipstick
She reported me. The boss was even blunter to her than I was and pointed out if the Premier could cope using the Ladies toilet, then so could everyone else

Am I the only one who feels sorry for the poor reporters etc that are made to stand outside in that kind of weather?!

Probably. They're all adults and should have the brains to say 'No, I'm not doing that, it's dangerous, everyone's being told to stay inside for a reason'.

Electric is still out and some trees are down, but nothing too bad.

Overall we were lucky the storm went north over land because that weakened the storm considerably.

There is a dusk-to-dawn curfew in the Florida Keys, and nobody is being allowed in. Damage assessment will begin in the morning. There is at least one fatality, at a shelter in Marathon. Someone who stayed did post a photo (in the Miami Herald) of storm surge reaching the second floor of some waterfront homes.

Hopefully you'll be home in a couple of days.

It's either that or they deny everyone the chance to see someone killed on air when a small bit of debris hits them in the face at 50mph.

Did Ray check in yet? He would be in the sights of this storm.

Ray has made a brief post that he and Joyce are both OK.
