How bad is the UK?

Very sad. The family should sue the police department for a few mil and they have every reason to but how many cops are killed every year in this country? I should look that up but it must be at least a hundred if not many more.
I wouldn't be a cop here if they paid me a kings ransom

Googling suggests about 100 ish cops die on duty per year though only about half killed feloniously the rest in accidents.

it's not so much about the money for some, its the power of being a Police Officer some even pay the Police to get this privilege

I am certain that is not generally true, if only because pay for the police in the US is extremely variable. Round here town cops can be as poorly paid as entry level teachers - in the low to mid $30k range. State police, with lengthy seniority, can be paid well over $100k.

I saw an article on police salaries across the US. A patrol man in Mississippi makes around $35,000 per year while a cop of the same rank in New Jersey pulls in $90,000.

It's OK - that's a tribute to my subtlety
Tough shit, that's the job they signed up for. Well, the 5% of them who aren't on the take anyway.

I doubt he's a glazier either, because, according to a popular rumour at the time, they were predominantly Irish contractors repairing the window damage.
It was also rumoured that the last window damaged by the St Mary Axe bomb was repaired the week before the Bishopsgate bomb exploded.
