Re: How Americans are viewed abroad...
Actually, thanks to my naturally sweet nature and manifold interests, I am surprisingly content, despite all the spanners that fate has thrown across my path these past 3 years.
Since I am also not a spiteful person, I hope you'll have the same fortitude and forbearance when misfortune comes knocking on your door.

I've got it on DVD if anyone is brave enough to PM me somewhere to send it to..... like a post office box, their MIL's address etc.
The Brits? Slobs who spent every possible minute drinking but possibly had the most fun! The maids said it was understandable that they never cleaned their rooms given the amount they drank!

Two things. LeonAtlanta says he is a US citizen now and my wife wants me to become one whilst it's still $400 bucks. The problem is that I can't imagine "pledging allegiance" to the stupid flag and all that because I am not a flag waving sycophant. I feel like I would burst into flames or something if I tried to do that.
Second thing. Sadly every action has an equal and opposite reaction so if we have an Elvira (Brit hates living in US) then we will always have a SouthernComfort (Brit can't see fault in US and hates Britain) so it's no surprise that the two have crossed paths like Vader and Skywalker inevitably did.

Never going to loose mine, it would be the loss of my cultural identity..and something I hold very dear to my heart. Its bad enough I have been forced to spell words incorrectly in the business world, like analyze, catalog, color, et cetera.

It is not the living here - it is all the stuff that has happened *as a result of living here*............ some of which would have happened anywhere (but would have been easier to bear if we'd been in the UK)............. and other stuff which just has been really tough and unfortunate (USCIS, healthcare), but which ultimately does not affect the nitty-gritty of everyday life...

You've inspired me to put on my CD of the 1970 England World cup team singing "There will always be an England."
