Don't mind me - I'm just whining and having a go at Ray. I wish whoever had been sick at the office had just stayed home.
Oh well.
JG - your remedy isn't bad - I wonder if the lemon or the honey is the active ingredient.

Hi KJ,
It's the honey coating the throat that soothes the most:

I've mentioned this before, but my mother the good Southern Baptist would sneak into a liquor store to buy whisky to make my brother the lemon, honey and whisky cough syrup our pediatrician recommended.
Oh, and I was kidding about the Oxycontin -- though Rush Limbaugh recommends it!
If your sore throat is that painful, it's probably strep and you should see a doctor. To me, strep throat feels like I'm gargling shards of glass.

A friend of mine was telling me about this remedy a few weeks ago-take a clove of garlic peel it and stick it on your tongue, bite on it, but don't chew it, just keep it on your tongue for as long as you can stand it. Supposedly there are things in the garlic which are a natural antibiotic?

I realised yesterday that I'd read my grandmother's Reader's Digest Condensed Book version of ATGIB.... meaning I now need to go back and read my daughter's full edition copy.

It may be out of print in the US (can't be bothered to check) but if you can find a copy:
The Kitchen Pharmacy - Rose Elliot
It been years since so I can't recall what it had in the book but it would have home made remedies for common ailments etc.
