Re: Harvey
Final update.
6 months after the storm and we are probably about a month off finishing all the big repairs to the house. This whole disaster has taken way too long to complete:thumbdown: We have encountered so many hold ups, screw ups and down right lies from all the major stores and building suppliers. We ordered and paid for our flooring from Home Depot. They failed to inform us when it arrived at the store and was put out on the shelf and being sold. Big melt down in the store by me, because you know after 3 months of having bare concrete throughout the house I really wasn't happy someone else had my flooring! Lowes lost our dishwasher even though the delivery said it was on the truck with the gas stove and fridge freezer. It showed up 2 weeks later with someone else's name on it:blink: Out of 8 interior doors delivered, two were damaged and one exterior door was scratched and dented. All had to be returned and reordered. Bathroom disasters: wrong shower delivered. One box of ceramic tiles were smashed and even after Lowes called to tell us our special ordered linen cabinet was ready to pick up when we got to the store they couldn't find it! Yep, they had sold it...still waiting for the replacement. We decided as the whole house was being restored that we would also replace all our windows. We finally got them fitted last week and that was only because I asked for the deposit back. The 2-3 week time frame from start to finish as promised last November had gone on too long. Mind you the guys that removed the old and fitted the new did an excellent job. We have a lot of windows and they look amazing now:thumbup: So new windows meant we needed new window treatments. I had always liked interior shutters so I ordered 2 just to see how they would look and guess what UPS obviously decided to demolish them and throw them into the front yard from a moving truck! The boxes were all broken and the the shutters were damaged. So we have given up for a few days, the black trash bags can stay in the windows until I figure out something else. M has been sick all weekend with the coughing sore throat crud and we are both worn out. The good news is we are leaving on Friday to go to Cancun for 5 days so we can relax and forget about the house......and the garden which is almost as much of a disaster area that I have just tried to ignore. Can't wait for this week to roll by:thumbup: |

I can't begin to imagine how exhausted you both must be. Cancun will be wonderful and hopefully full health and a finished home isn't far away. Huge hugs C. x
