A glimmer of hope today. Insurance called and said the adjustor has now submitted our claim and it is being prepared for finalization. We should receive payment in the next 10 days:fingerscrossed:
So Thanksgiving is still going to be outside or at MacDonalds but hopefully by Christmas we will have a fully equipped home again.. Awesome news, whatever you do for Thanksgiving spark up the beast and take it for a spin. |

I won't make you and hubby eat outside but you are welcome to ride to MS along the Gulf Coast and come here to Thanksgiving. Got a room and en suite you can use for a few days and would love the company. And no, it is not just a kind offer on paper but a genuine offer, we would love to have you accept.
Glad to read of your good news. I think our Thanksgiving will be making sure everything is ready for the contractor when he starts again. :fingerscrossed:

Rete, that is a wonderful offer. We fully intend to ride your way and meet with you and hopefully in the new year, early spring, we will do it. If we can rope Cindy in as well it will be great.

Re: Harvey
Update:
Everything is moving so slowly. The new kitchen addition is finished, new walls, doors and windows in place. AC vent is all hooked up, walls are painted and the gas, water and electricity are all connected. But no floor and no kitchen cabinets:thumbdown: it's all on back order. The rest of the house is being worked on, all the rooms are sheet rocked and finally the main bathroom has walls...not that it matters because the new shower is back ordered. We do have the tiles so at least that can be worked on. Mishaps in the last week: hot water tank quit working and started to leak, we replaced it last Friday and it was so good to have a nice hot shower Friday night.... and then the contractor said he could smell gas and apparently we have a leaking gas line somewhere across the 300ft from the house to the meter. So now the gas company have pulled the meter which means no gas which means no hot water which means stopping by our friends house each evening to shower!! 10 weeks since the storm. I really did think it would be sorted by now. :( |

Hopefully 2018 will be kinder to you. |

Yep, 2018 had better be a quieter disaster free year. I'm getting too old to live like a squatter;) |

It was just a bad combination of too many big disasters happening at the same time. It slowed down the insurance and it also meant everything we need to have replaced is the same as thousands of other houses so demand is high.
I really hope you are far more comfy soon. Totally agree. One reaches an age where camping no longer appeals. The same goes for half a house or less.:( |

Yes, thank goodness but what seemed a decent amount is not looking so much as we start spending it..
