Frivolous things I don't understand

Put up or shut up... the specs say you stay within tolerances for the expected lifespan of the oil, used to the standards like temps specified.
Even the supermarket brands are compliant, out of spec will get you in legal bother with the state - goods not of mercantable quality, or misleading labelling, and the govt will screw you royally, as they did BP, and the company labs will happily shop conpetitors - remember their water in fuel attempt?

Please your ****ing self. I sold my UK company in lubricant testing to a US company, for a hell of a lot of money, I think there was a reason. You are wrong, there are clear ways to "just" meet the standards which are not good for your engine. There's a reason why a top grade of oil costs what it does, and a supermarket grade costs what it does.

Steve is taking about oil that "just" meets the standards at the point of sale, but degrades rapidly afterwards, as opposed to a quality product that meets the standards throughout its entire life in useage.

Cold pressed requires huge pressures but people rave over it like olive oil, not cheap.
The normal stuff is not expensive, is the best for frying because it has a very high burn point, it doesnt oxidise easily. It is natural, and better for you than soya blended/unknown or corn oil. A lot better than the extended life oils used commercially, these are only marginally edible - and often 'pass through' unchanged...
I also use pure peanut oil sometimes, also very good, but always pricey.

Canola is also called rapeseed.
