The fact that 70 percent of the population want some kind of gun control and yet the NRA would sooner not yield and inch and instead use it's money to bribe a bunch of lawmakers into doing it's will is a form of insanity in itself.

Where did government by the people for the people go ?

It's about more than monetary bribery — the NRA has unmatched ability to rally their followers and bring out the vote. This has pols shaking in fear of the organization, preferring to preserve their political future and perks and bennies over doing the right thing.

The videos showing teenagers being hunted by a mad gunman is every parent's nightmare. Maybe a few of them will be motivated to actually vote next time.

Police not giving a crap is why many gun owners are that in that first place.

Comprehensive as in more than just laws aimed at gun owners.

And after the things that happens in New Orleans, there are many people that do not trust the police. Also the police have a reputation of shooting unarmed civilians, not to say that doesn't happen in other parts of the world.

There is some kind of gun control so you are saying 30% want no gun control.

Seriously? Most cops want to get as many guns off the streets as possible, especially those assault rifles. Remember the deputy who was supposed to secure the school? He stayed outside because he was too afraid to tackle the killer. Assault rifles have too much firepower.

Yes they want to get illegal guns of the street. But that wasn't my point. I'm saying a lot of the gun owners own guns because the police can't be relied upon.

During the N. Hollywood shootout officers with pistols, and some with revolvers, took on two robbers with fully automatic weapons.

The 30 percent probably consist of "don't know" "Not sure " and "If we let them start with AR-15s they'll be after the rest of our firearms" Then there's the oddball element "Fear the government that fears your gun"

Police cars always used to have a shotgun as part of the inventory. These days it's more likely to be an AR-15.

Excuse denied

No, I'm saying that it's irrelevant if he's "criminally insane" or not. The important thing to those bereaved parents is that he was able to buy a gun. You can't easily stop anyone from being criminally insane, or even just having a really bad day. You CAN - and nearly all other countries in the world do - stop people from acquiring such weapons.

Just the ticket, two blokes aimlessly spraying bullets around a school packed with kids. What could possibly go wrong..

Well, what you say about guns is obviously true. But mental health issues are actively being used by the NRA and guns rights people to try to prevent any sensible reform in gun availability. I think Cruz is criminally responsible, and should face a criminal trial.
