wow... fitness prices seem quite good elsewhere, do like a pool tho', Lifetime Fitness here couple of hundred+ joining, $150 and up monthly family, Villa Sport Athletic just going up, a walk down the road (Katy, Texas) probably same as LTF or a bit north of that pricewise....

That's nothing compared to the rest of us, who wonder why on earth the residents of California put up with it!

As this thread has turned into a discussion of the cost of gym membership, I have moved it into the Trailer Park forum.

ZoeBenFlorida...if you wish to enquire about possible visas to the US, please open a new thread in the US Immigration forum. Thanks.

Planet Fitness is $10 a month even in San Francisco. I always wonder how they turn a profit here though; pretty prime rental space in the Financial District doesn't exactly come cheap.

Interesting, I would guess they view that location as a sort of 'loss leader,' a way to keep their brand current among the influential movers and shakers of S.F.

They're a franchiser. I do wonder whether there's some form of cross-subsidization going on between locations in order to keep fees uniform.

So I think there's plenty of money to be made in the fitness industry, especially in places that place a lot of emphasis on appearance/health etc. Perhaps the OP would be better off in LA !
I say $10 a month for Crunch Fitness, 24/7 gym, and it was $1 sign up. There is a number of chains and independent gyms in town and one of hem is $200 a month, but they have a number of folks who qualified for national body building type things.

Certainly a range. The Y, is certainly not the most affordable around here though.
