Re: Family Move to Florida
wow... fitness prices seem quite good elsewhere, do like a pool tho', Lifetime Fitness here couple of hundred+ joining, $150 and up monthly family, Villa Sport Athletic just going up, a walk down the road (Katy, Texas) probably same as LTF or a bit north of that pricewise....

Ha! The price we pay for things in NorCal continues to boggle the mind

As this thread has turned into a discussion of the cost of gym membership, I have moved it into the Trailer Park forum.

Interesting, I would guess they view that location as a sort of 'loss leader,' a way to keep their brand current among the influential movers and shakers of S.F.

They're a franchiser. I do wonder whether there's some form of cross-subsidization going on between locations in order to keep fees uniform.

When was the last time you went to the gym? I pay $67/month for a membership at the Y (aka the most affordable place to work out) + a $99 joining fee. An Orange Theory class costs $30 a pop. A friend of mine is a personal trainer and is making an absolute fortune. So I think there's plenty of money to be made in the fitness industry, especially in places that place a lot of emphasis on appearance/health etc. Perhaps the OP would be better off in LA !
Certainly a range. The Y, is certainly not the most affordable around here though.
