Another home office here. Past three months the electric bill has been $300. Can't wait until it cools off. Over the winter it is easily as low as $60 (gas heat which is relatively cheap around $120).

I work from home too, but the weather here, and the position of the house is perfect. I sit with the door open every day from May-October. I think there have only been 2 days this year when I've had to close up and put the air on. If I sat upstairs it would be a different story though.

I have to heat in the winter though.

We switch from AC to burning the log fire within a two week period. Usually mid November.

A couple of years there then a move to the East Coast. I'm tired of flying to clients in the East and also the longer flight to the UK and Europe.

(Electric bill is @ 300 - 400 per month at the moment. We enjoy a nice 76 degrees inside usually.)

I'd faint if my electric bill was that much... and I moan and complain when ours gets to 40 a month.....

No rain here, but cloudy and muggy too.

Hubby said it's been constant drizzle in Burlingame, but no rain here and the forecast is now clear

Cloudy yesterday but no rain. Today, blue skies but slightly lower temperatures than of late. Mind you, frost is expected in 6 weeks' time around here, typically.

As per Hotscot - scorching in summer, but can snow in winter. When we lived in Victorville (a few miles away) we had a thick layer of ice on the swimming pool for a few weeks over winter. Spring is an interesting time of year as you can go out at 8am in warm jacket and jeans, and by 11am you need to change into T-shirt and shorts. Not sure of Hotscot's elevation but here we're at 3,000ft.

Just curious ... what would possess you to voluntarily stay in Antelope Valley for so long - I mean, are you on some lease that involves giving up a first child or something? I know everywhere has it's plusses, but I assumed you must be tied to some local job; if you work from home, then what is it that keeps you there? Aerospace seems to be the only major draw for that area (and now some solar ).

PS - I drive through that area a lot and I find it fascinating ... always wondered who lived there and why ... Highway 138 is one of my favorite bypass roads to avoid LA traffic on my way to AZ, if I'm doing the one-day non-stop craziness.

Good question!
Simple answer.
My wife is a devoted teacher and she won't leave until she's ready...
She is really committed to her students...
