We got our second shot (Pfizer) at the state site near here, 21 days after the first shot. Situation was much the same as the first - well-organized and stress free. There were far more staff and volunteers on site than patients. Not really sure if I’m experiencing adverse effects - I feel lethargic and not too energetic but that’s how I often feel.

Two couples who are friends had appointments last Thursday at Dodger Stadium like we did. The first was at 10 am. They were in and out in an hour. Second couple scheduled for 12:30. It started out efficiently and then ground to a halt with staff around doing nothing. Then informed they had to wait for fresh doses to thaw. It took them four hours. I'm glad we had that appointment at Kaiser ( which went smoothly).
That afternoon LA City announced that shipments stuck in Kentucky due to weather and they were rescheduling Friday and Saturday appointments. News showed people showing up for their previously scheduled appointments to find the gates to Dodger Stadium closed.

At 9am this morning now that I am eligible I logged into the Oregon system to see if I could snag one of the 7300 appointments released. Unbeknown to me Mrs L decided to use my log in on her computer to be helpful and see if she could get me an appointment. Result is I am now banned from the Oregon appointment system "until a later date" for suspicious activity on my account.

At 4:15pm this afternoon I got a phone call from the fire department paramedics who were running a clinic nearby for caregivers. Seems a number didn't turn up for their appointments (2nd shots), and if I could get my butt there in 20 minutes I could have one of the shots that would otherwise go to waste. 4:40pm first shot of Moderna vaccine in my arm.
Begs the question why fail to turn up for a 2nd shot, and selfishly let a shot go to waste.

My wife has already had her 2nd shot.
My ban from the official booking system lasted 24 hours. This was a who you know call from people running a clinic who didn't want to waste vaccine.

The US vaccination rate is still stuck at 1.3MM a day as it has been for a month or so. I know there have been weather delays, but this is not nearly fast enough. The US should strive to be at 3x that speed.
Still, a scholarly study was published recently showing that the US is approaching herd immunity surprisingly quickly due to the huge number of infections (which is likely at least 3x the confirmed cases number) and vaccinations:

The decline of the 7-day moving average of new cases and of deaths has also stalled. The averages are way down from two weeks ago but flat over the last 5 days or so. It’s a short span so hopefully it’s just a blip.

Re: Covid-19 Vaccination -- Have You Gotten It?
I had a doctors appointment yesterday evening and happened to get a vaccination while I was there due to a cancellation so I got my first shot of the Pfizer vaccine. Coincidentally my mom back in the UK also got her vaccine (Pfizer) yesterday along with both my wife's parents who got the Moderna vaccine. I was fine for the 15 minutes I had to wait although felt a little light headed as I got up to leave but that passed in about 5 minutes. Got a headache a couple of hours later until I went to bed and then woke up fine other than my arm feeling sore.

DONE!
Moderna 2nd shot yesterday
It was a bit of an ordeal...
My appointments were at a Super Market Pharmacy
The saga began on a high note when I was unexpectedly lucky (or so I thought), and effortlessly snagged an appointment online for the following week.
And at a ideal time and location. It was closer to me and more convenient than any other vaccination site in all of Los Angeles.
When I arrived there however, I was told I wasn't on their schedule
Fortunately I'd printed out the email confirmation, and smugly handed it over - together with the signed Consent Form they'd sent (which I wouldn't have had without a firm appointment)
This led to untold consternation amongst a slew of Pharmacy personnel
Eventually they informed me my appointment was at a different Super Market Pharmacy, miles away.
My gas tank was lower than low
As were my spirits...
Off I went, not sure I'd make it or whether they'd keep my appointment..
Well, I did, and they did...
I was ushered into an airless, windowless, tiny, space.
It was utterly filthy
It looked like a resurrected broom closet
What was lurking in the stale air and on the grimy surfaces?
Would I contract Covid while getting vaccinated to protect me from getting Covid?
I was on the verge of skedaddling when the Vaccinator appeared in the doorway.
"This room is filthy!"
The words tumbled from my mouth. i hadn't planned to say a thing
The Vaccinator stared at me, then stared at the disgusting floor - for a good 50 seconds.
"I'm sorry you feel that way", she finally muttered non-committally as she pulled my sleeve up and gave me a sharp, decisive poke
One and done.... whew
That was followed by 4 weeks of suspense. Each time I'd go online to book my 2nd appointment - Ms. Vaccinator would CANCEL it.
It seemed to be a bizarre power grab.
When I would phone the Pharmacy...no matter what day or what time...SHE would answer
She berated me for daring to make an appointment. Only SHE had the authorisation to.do that
Intimidation, consternation, incredulity....
It wasn't until I turned up for yesterday's appointment (which I had made) and got JAB #2, that I was able to breathe a long, deep sigh of relief.
Would I do it again?
Yes
Despite my fraught experience - all things considered, it was definitely worth it !

Well done
The Vaccinator sounds terrible. I would have had trouble remaining polite, but the best thing was the get the shot by whatever means necessary. No side effects?

Re: Covid-19 Vaccination -- Have You Gotten It?
But truth be told - She was the gateway to what I needed and manipulated the situation sadistically
She held the power to sanction / deny me.
Or hurt me with her needle
Nuts, weird, crazy...
I''m not prone to intimidation, never hesitant to stand up for myself. I don't fear confrontation when it's justified
But I was dominated by her power
Or maybe not:... with forbearance..I did get what I needed
No, no bad side effects...just a sore arm - like after 1st shot ( which actually lasted for 3 weeks )
Again - well worth it !
Everyone....When it's "your turn" GET IT!
Will give Super Market Pharmacies a wide berth going forward
