Re: Covid-19 Vaccination -- Have You Gotten It?
Frankly this attitude drives me absolutely crazy. Do people hesitating about getting a vaccine not understand that ~3,000 people a day in the US are still dying from this extremely contagious disease? Do people not understand that the faster we get vaccinated the more we eliminate the possibility of new variants appearing and the faster we get to ending this awful calamity? Do people not want this to end or something? I'm at a loss. There is no plan B here, the vaccine is the answer. I have very little patience for anti-vaxxers. To be honest, I'm even a little irritated by people above fretting about the possibility of extremely mild side effects. If I were offered a vaccine right now but I had to pay for a flight to California to get, I would happily do it. If you can get vaccinated, go immediately.

Not everyone can take the vaccine. My husband is one of them as he has had Covid-19. Thus, he is ineligible and yet he can contract the virus a second time. Go figure!
BTW I just had my second jab this morning.

But are you sure people were “fretting” about the side effects? I thought they were simply interested in the phenomenon, commenting on the reported range of side effects, etc.

I hope this isn't coming out as self-righteous, I'm just stressed out and sick of this God-damned pandemic. What makes steam come out of my ears is that we finally see a light at the end of this awful tunnel in the form of a near-miraculous vaccine and maddening anti-science garbage is preventing us from moving forward quickly enough. It's infurating, sociopathic and stupid. In that context, the mentions above of people being "worried" about the second dose" or that they "have heard" that they may get some side effects from the second dose bothers me. Maybe that's irrational on my part, but in these reactionary, conspiracy-thirsty times any hint of waffling about the safety of the vaccine will decrease the speed of uptake and encourage the anti-vaxx nutballs out there. We can't tolerate that, every minute matters and this is a matter of life and death. I don't mean to offend anyone, again I realize I'm emotional about this.

Re: Covid-19 Vaccination -- Have You Gotten It?
I admit I'm emotional about the situation and probably need to calm down. Still, like everyone I've been worrying about the health of those I love for almost a year. I'm worried about my children's education, my livelihood and the mental health of most everyone. I see thousands of families losing loved ones (including people I know), it's heartbreaking. I'm even worried about the permanent financial impact of the pandemic on millions of people: people I know who's life's work have gone up in smoke in a matter of ten months.

Secondly, I also dislike the anti vac people. The people that boast about " not putting that poison in their bodies" and yet they are covered in tattoo ink and lip fillers etc!! So little knowledge and so little sense.
Thirdly, about the side effects. Well I guess you have forgotten that most of us are British. We thrive on complaining

From a societal perspective must make sense, from an individual perspective there will always be those out there with a belief that I would not consider rational.
I am intrigued as why many in the medical community said no, all the ones I know took it.

First of all I think we all can say we feel the same as you.. It's been a bit like having to hold your breath and wondering if you will ever be able to breathe easy again. Life has suddenly changed.. We are mostly living our life through Skype, seeing our kids and grandkids but not being able to be with them in any way. We will feel that much safer once we have had our second vaccination but we will still not feel really safe.

I am glad to see so many of my fellow BE peeps getting the shot. It's the only way we are going to beat this thing.
I am not so glad about the number of my colleagues that declined the shot, despite us all personally seeing the death toll that it has wrought on our patients.
