Cornish Pasty?
#46
I have to report that the 4 14oz pasties I ordered from pasty.com arrived as promised in 2 days and were consumed with much delight by this ex Cornish resident and two Americans! I know pasty tastes will vary but I would recommend pasty.com to anyone. Only one point - they were a little dry and were improved with a generous helping of chutney. Shame I didnt have any Sharwoods Mango but what I found here was ok.
Are there no Indian grocery stores near you? A World Market? Either store would probably have Sharwood's mango chutney if that's really what you want.

4and20pasty co in Sarasota is very good. The owner is from London and used to have a Restaurant in Piccadilly Circus. Trouble is, I go there and order a load and then eat too many for the next month or so!! He does Curry Pasties, and sausage rolls, mmmmmmmmm. That way I can kill 2 birds with one stone!!!

ive found 2 irish style bacons in the chicago area, i got winstons which was frozen, let out a lot of water and 'white stuff', and has MSG, virtually no fat so it didnt cook as nicely as id like, ok if no choice BUT then i found shannon brand bacon, cooks almost like a dry cure and no msg and more fat, much better, recommended, its very close to UK bacon.

Are there no Indian grocery stores near you? WHAT??? An Indian store in this one horse conservative town? Local paper is full of Charles Krauthammer columns and letters telling us how awful the NHS is! Nearest we get to a foreign store is the Outback restaurant, and that serves all the local stuff under funny Oz names!

best cornish pasty I had was in the 'last pub' lands end
It was two shillings and 3 pence and was fresh everything
Turnip, lamb, white pepper, onions, spuds, soft greasy but not solid heavy pastry
I am led to salivate by a decades old experience
ok now where do we locate Cheshire Cheese !

It probably wont survive the first night in the motel room
cheshire cheese and raw onion sandwich with branston in !
No wonder we had the mightiest empire the world had ever known
Can any civilization ever aspire to match that !
Makes me feel sad for the rest

I think I am in the minority, but I don't enjoy cheese at all. But... the one thing I will eat it with is a cheese, tomato and onion sandwich with branston pickle on ! I much prefer real cheddar cheese if given a choice

I completely agree!! Real cheddar is the way to go (in most cases) with maybe the exception of ocassional wendsleydale with cranberries, and brie. I dont like the "american" cheddar so much. 1. Cheese should not ever be ORANGE or 2. smell like farts (unless its a soft or blue cheese), hence why in our house US cheddar is known as fart cheese. we get funny looks off our friends for that!
And they dont get why we love branston so much either.. I have to agree withthem on one thing.. it doesnt exactly look appealing does it! Brown smoosh with lumps in!

If you like a good pub cheese, try the Black Mountain, I like it as much as Cotswold.
I used to get good cheese from the supermarket but that went downhill so I pay not much more for these.
Igourmet sends a $5.00 coupon for your next buy, to be used within about a month. I order one thing, then more when I get the coupon.
