Lots of on-the-job training.
FIL had one last year and was dreading it, but he didn't recall much of it afterwards (except the prep') I'm thinking that I have another year or so before they 'book me in' |
Re: Colonoscopy - piece of cake!
Mrs Titchski had one a few years ago - I won't go into details but lets just say the machine broke at a very inopportune time and tech support got to see a bit more of her than we'd have liked

On my last trip to the Dr they mentioned that word (colonoscopy:eek:) Have never had one and not something I feel the need to remind them of!

I'm not too happy with my Dr's office at the moment though, I never got to have the GYN exam he recommended that I get, after I did all the leg work getting the darn thing set up, the GYN still wanted a referral letter from the Dr's office, after faffing around for days, going back and forth with my Dr's office 'insisting' I didn't need one:frown: It got to the day of my appt' and they promised to fax it, I got there and no F***ing fax:frown: So, no referral letter=no exam!! I took matters into my own hands, stopped taking the meds that my Dr had given me, they had caused the GYN problem to start with...no more problems, no appt' necessary!...looking for new PCM:rolleyes: |
Re: Colonoscopy - piece of cake!
I had mine done 3 weeks ago, was given drugs through the IV and went out like a light and never felt or knew a thing. Was really pissed off when they woke me up in the recovery room, best sleep I had had for ages. Like everyone else has said the liquid you have to drink is the worst part, even though I got to mix mine with Gatorade. Needless to say I will never touch Gatorade again. I also didnt know the effect would be like peeing out of your bum!!!!!They found one polyp which they say appeared benign, but they would be in touch if necessary by letter.

I 2nd, 3rd & 4th that advice. It does not hurt & takes about 15 minutes. Big deal to the Prep, sure Chemo tastes & feels million times worse. Dying tastes, really bad. Most places put you out, ask for it if thats what you want. Another friend of ours died yesterday at 62 of Colon C. Get it done. And for the boys PSA & digital test. For the girls, Mammograms. If you have Insurance, get tested. If you don't have in Insurance, lots of Clinics, hospitals do freebies. Reg. Frank R. |

I'd just like to add that with many minor procedures a sedative is used rather than a general aneasthetic. The level of sedation can be adjusted at the doctor or patient's request. I always say I don't want to see, hear or feel anything. I have had two bunionectomies, carpal tunnel syndrome surgery, endoscopy and colonoscopy done this way and each time I've been out cold. The advantage with sedation is that the recovery time is much quicker and it is safer to use. |
