Classy Canadians.
So last night at game 3 of the Stanley Cup playoff game between the Edmonton Oilers and the Anaheim Ducks a very classy thing happened.
Just before the American national anthem was due to be sung by C & W singer Brett Kissel the microphone suffered a technical glitch.
This is where just over 18,000 Canadians decided to sing the anthem for him.
Yes we know the words to your anthem.
We even forgave you for flying the Canadian flag upside down at the World Series on 18 October 1992 in Atlanta when the Braves played the Toronto Blue Jays.
Would Americans even know the words of the Canadian anthem

Re: Classy Canadians.
A North Dakota resident found out the hard way this past weekend that kilometres and miles aren't the same thing.
The driver was hit with a $940 ticket Sunday afternoon after being caught going 100 miles per hour in the RM of Dufferin on Highway 13, RCMP said.
100 mph is equal to 168 kilometres per hour in a 100 km/h zone.
Speed limits are in mph in the USA but in Canada kmh

Well here is an example why they should learn things about things that doesn't concern them

Re: Classy Canadians.
I think it's actually a tribute to Hispanic immigrants... beginning something like: José, can you see...?
It starts off with: O Canada! ... and later on there's a lot of "we stand on guard..."
Ian
I have no flipping clue on the Canadian one although I might recognise it if I heard it.

Our home and native land
True patriot love
In all thy sons' command
With glowing hearts we see thee rise
The true north strong and free
From far and wide
O Canada
We stand on guard for thee
God keep our land
Glorious and free
O Canada we stand on guard for thee
O Canada we stand on guard for thee

Re: Classy Canadians.
for those wondering the US anthem is..
Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream:
'Tis the star-spangled banner! Oh long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion,
A home and a country should leave us no more!
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave'
From the terror of flight and the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

O Canada! Terre de nos aïeux,
Ton front est ceint de fleurons glorieux!
Car ton bras sait porter l'épée,
Il sait porter la croix!
Ton histoire est une épopée

Et ta valeur, de foi trempée,
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.

Re: Classy Canadians.
Same thing happened at a Toronto Maple Leafs game. The old saying-good fences make good neighbors is wrong, Canadiens make good neighbors. Too bad the US can't have a Canada on the southern border too.

Amen to that. One little piece of news is that one-quarter of the federal prison population consists of illegal aliens. Probably not very many of them are illegal alien Canadians, I suspect.

Someone from a border state didn't know that? It wouldn't happen here in Washington. It's common knowledge here that Canada uses metric measurements.

Re: Classy Canadians.
Visit any war cemetery or the Vietnam Wall and the Spanish surnames are very much present with all the various surnames that make up a land of immigrants
I believe that if every Mexican disappeared from California the State's economy would sink to around the level of that of Kentucky or Mississippi in pretty short order,
No disrespect to the American or Canadians national anthems obviously but the most stirring musically along with the words has to be the French national anthem IMO
