Re: Christmas Trees
If you haven't taken it down by now you may as well leave it up for next year
There was one house that I drive past on my way home from the babysitters that had theirs up well into February but I think it is down now. |
Re: Christmas Trees
The tree is in my daughter's room. I only found out yesterday cos she was asking for half a dozen AA batteries.
"What for", I said. "Nothing", she replied. 10 mins more of the same toing and froing I find out it's for "the lights". "What lights?". "The tree lights", "What tree lights?", "The little xmas tree lights", "Why do we need those?", "Well, because they've run out and I can't find anymore." "But it's March, nearly April!!!", "So?" Upshot is we have to drive to CVS and buy the batteries. While we're looking for them she asks if we can get also get some of the "bigger, rounder batteries." "What for?" "The Dog & Snowman ornament." This is the one that barks, howls and shakes bells to the tune of Jingle Bells. Kids? |
Re: Christmas Trees
I guess she just didn't want Christmas to end. Doesn't do any harm if it's just in her room though.
I'm sure when mine is older she'll be just the same  |

I do have a son on the edge of 13 though so I kind of know what you mean about the issues being so big. I swear he should be more tired from carrying that cross around with him all day long  I'm quite bad at not reacting though. He knows how to push me into arsehole mode all too well! |

Sounds like fun. Luckily for me I have 14 years to go until my daughter gets to that stage!

My boy is hitting 17 and is a lot easier to manage - for your sanity a PS3 will be the best investment you ever make for the lad. Mine passed his driving test last year and he thinks he's the mutts now he has wheels. I find a very, very, minor threat of the wheels being removed is enough to curtail any stroppy nonsense or gobshite.
We're hesitant to give it back though because even though he got his TV back, we've been limiting it to a short time each day and he is reading more, and doing better at school grade wise! Stuck between a rock and a hard place, but in his defence he's taking it quite well so maybe we can let him have it next week while he's off school. Or maybe not  |

We bought him a PS3 two christmasses ago. Right now he's not allowed to play it for acting up in school!

Keep 'em guessing - I like your style. Our main TV is in the basement which is where I keep both drumsets - electronic and regular. When the battle for the TV is raging I start hammering out a four on the floor beat and that soon moves them out.

Plus, until we get around to finishing it, other than laundry the basement is for my gear, and the one TV down there is only hooked up to my PS2 and computer. No drums though, I miss my drums. |

Re: Christmas Trees
I was always told than all decorations had to be taken down by sunset on the twelth night or the house was cursed for 12 months. The Victorians used to burn them to be sure no trace was left.
