I’m on the hunt today for Christmas cake to have with cheese (it’s a northern thing.. a uk north that is!) and done mince pies. Grocery outlet maybe? We have brisket so craving some traditional goodies....ugh feeling somewhat homesick 😔

I brought a M&S Christmas cake, Christmas pudding and mince pies back from the UK last week. A ‘northern thing’...I have never heard of eating cheese with Christmas cake...and I don’t like the sound of it.

I think it’s a Yorkshire thing. A nice slice of Xmas cake with a slice of cheddar of top. Bring aforementioned slice to mouth and savor. Yum though my southern (London) pals would disagree.

Ohhh ya never know till you try 😆😆 it works. Sweet and savory and a taste of “homeâ€

Not heard of anyone doing it, but it's mostly dried fruits, which tends to be eaten with cheese so isn't all that strange.

The only piece of cheese my dad eats the entire year 😄

I'd certainly try it, I like cheddar on apple pie, and occasionally a cheddar and apple sandwich is good too, so fruitcake isn't much of a stretch.

Bettys Tea Shop in Harrogate have served fruitcake and cheese years, most definitely a Yorkshire thing I had never come across that combination till one of our daughters went to school in Harrogate.
Ticks two boxes for me I like both fruitcake and cheese.
