Re: Candy Corn
Bleaugh, I hate candy corn.
We don't get many kids in our neighbourhood, but our friends always have a ton, so in years past we've set up chairs in their drive and watched the kids there. A lot of their neighbours go all-out with the decorations, too. It's a lot of fun! With Halloween being on a Friday this year, I doubt we'll go. |

Aye, I do thanks. As a pagan ritual designed to scare off evil spirits on All Hallows Eve - the night before All Saints Day.
That doesn't excuse snotty little kids knocking on my door wearing Batman and Princess costumes. WTF is scary about THAT? Or college age adults wearing "slutty nurse", or "slutty witch" or "slutty slut" outfits. Pur-lease. If you want the bejesus scared outta you, go to church instead. We live so far out that we don't get anyone coming to the door unless they are very, very lost. So we dress the kids up and drive them into town. There's a couple subdivisions there that go all out with the Dads passing out beer and hotdogs to the adults and all the yards done up with fog and sound effects etc... At our old apartment in the 'hood (before we had kids) my wife thought it would be fun to pass out candy. After three of the first five "kids" were about as big as I was and hadn't even bothered to put on any kind of costume (Well, one "kid" that was about 5'10" was wearing a ski mask and a hoodie, we saw him through the window and I told my Wife "You get the candy, I'll get the shotgun...") |

Er, where do you live? I would gladly give a treat to any of the highlighted above in return for a trick. :)
Why are women supposed to look like tarts at Halloween? Why can't we look like witches and wizards, green skin, big noses, stripey tights, warts and all? Why do we STILL have to look attractive? It makes me sad. :( |

Only Northern Ireland - not the South

You ever tried buying a costume online for women? All you can buy are outfits with the word "slutty" attached. "Slutty Wizard of Oz", "Slutty Schoolgirl", "Slutty Firefighter"... etc...

Re: Candy Corn
I was talking to a friend of mine in Milwaukee, Wisconson on Sunday. She said all the kids around her area went out that day (Sunday) during the day, to do their trick or treating. I said what? What do they do then on the 31st? She said nothing...they have done daylight trick or treating on a weekend over there for years because it's too dangerous to go out at night on whichever night the 31st falls on! That was sad to hear! Here in Phoenix Arizona it's still celebrated on the 31st, after dark, no matter what night of the week it falls on.
