The loophole thing is a bit daft, just means people will download the shows and they'll just miss out on the viewing stats and advertising potential...plus most expats probably know someone back in the UK who would let them login with their details.

Can you buy a license if you don't live in the UK. Nothing I've seen to say they will make a license available to those outside the UK. They did talk about releasing the iPlayer in the US but nothing came of that as there was too much push back from the channels that broadcast the BBC stuff over here.

I think they're planning on launching an international 'content store' where we'll be able to purchase media.
