Birdwatching

Re: Birdwatching
A couple of Kingfishers have arrived on the lake, but not managed to get a photo of them yet. Also, the Killdeer are getting a bit stroppy - guess its nesting/hatching season for them at the moment. They are pretty funny when they try to chase me and dog away if we get to close to their nests....
Not so funny are the grackles that divebombed us on Saturday morning during our walk....one of the few times I have outside without a cap, and I picked up some scratches and a few pecks on the bonce. Not happy

Re: Birdwatching
I'll post pictures when I have time...Crazy busy
Was at Cambria the weekend, beautiful coastal town.
Heard a stramash and saw a bunch of crows fussing over something.
An eagle had dived down and dispatched a squirrel and the crows kept attacking, trying to get a piece of the action. Actually flying down and battering it on the head.
The eagle couldn't fly away as the squirrel was too heavy!
The solution, the eagle ripped it to bits, dug out the stomach, chopped off the head, gutted it, until it was light enough to fly away, right over our heads.
A bunch of us were standing just twenty feet away watching this..a most incredible display of nature.
