Human beings suck!

https://www.yahoo.com/news/police-mo...45.html?ref=gs

Three officers dead, one shooter dead, one or two suspects on the loose.

These people really aren't helping their cause by shooting cops.

If this continues people will just turn against the blm movement even though they've called for non-violent protests.

This, following Dallas, is a huge own goal for the black community. The public's sympathy seems to already largely be with the police and any chance of widespread public support for the BLM movement has been squandered.

The people doing the shootings have been ex military. I think maybe it's more of an anti-establishment issue than BLM.

Public sympathy before the shootings of law enforcement never amounted to much though. There are plenty of cases of abusive Cops , plenty of personal accounts by Blacks and videos like that of Eric Garner . Those cops in Baltimore all got off. The cop who killed Eric Garner (the chap who was selling cigarettes on the sidewalk) got off. For many years the police in that Missouri town were abusing the residents with overzealous ticketing.

Sympathy for the black community? .... Agreed, but the shootings in Dallas and Baton Rouge mean than nobody now needs to be embarrassed for sympthizing with the police.

Hopefully the Police will now get their house in order. There does seem to be consequences now, even if the courts and the unions do not address the situations appropriately. The day when the police call their union first instead of their boss was when things went wrong.

Most of the cases that end up in court lead to the police being acquitted, and objectively speaking, rightly so.

The number of "bad apples" in the police force is extraordinarily low - I agree that one is one too many, but the idea that the police are systematically seeking opportunities to gun down black men is utter nonsense.

Judges are quite often unpredictable and bring sexism and racism into their decisions.

Sometimes it's a grand jury though.

In the case of Mike Brown it turned out most, maybe all, of the "eye witnesses" were lying. I put that in quotes because some of these witnesses turned out to not be in the vacinity at the time.

That is always a problem when too much what used to be media coverage. The trouble is nowadays it is difficult to restrict the media coverage so sometimes the jury has already been influence even before they get selected. I am not sure there is an easy solution to this given the modern age method of news dissemination via social media. The same applies to witnesses, very very witnesses recall 100% what happened but can be easily influenced by external sources

In the "modern media age" though, there is often a wealth of video footage, not only from car and body cams, but closed circuit security cameras, as well as witnesses with phones.

A case in NC a couple of years ago, widely reported in the immefoaye aftermath as police brutality and a gross overeaction, when presented in court, the available video was entirely consist with the initial police reports, of a crazed man who charged at the police from a fairly short distance.

There are still many states that prohibit public video recordings of public officials. This is slowly changing.

In the case I cited it was the police dash cam. The video was damning.
