The American Dream

Re: The American Dream
Ps - seriously though, I'm using Windows XP (I think) on this laptop, and Windows 7 on my other one, its just started doing the autocorrect on both - I don't think I have changed anything on either of them. Its also started on my ipad (talking about pieces of cr@P!) so I figured it was a BE thing. Maybe not?

Re: The American Dream
I just tried it on my vista laptop and it doesn't change UK spellings to US spellings. So I suspect that you have an application running on your computer that does auto correction.

Re: The American Dream
I'm feeling a bit deprived. Just a french door fridge in the kitchen, a chest freezer in the garage and a wine fridge in the dining room.
I did live some of the American dream last week on a hot day, sitting in a float chair in the swimming pool. Got to clean up the grill before it can be used though.

The 'dream' (as it was) has nothing to do with white goods or plant hire equipment anyway. It's not like other countries don't have them

You're right - I think its the obsession with conspicuous consumption - at least with my BiL - he loves that he has lots of fridges, 3 sinks in his kitchen, 2 dishwashers (WTF?) - this is a family of 4 remember. He even rags me because I only have 1 light in my garage....I've got a good set of fluoursecents over my workbench, but the main part of the garage has one little dangly bulb - apparently I "should" have a strip or some spots there.... The more I type, the more I realize my wife's sister married a bit of an arsehole.....

I have two hangy lights in my garage - and one in the motor for the automatic door. Sounds ostentatious, right? Nah, only one of them works

Re: The American Dream
It is confusing now that I look at your posts with all the misspelled words. Usually if there is auto correction on the fly, there is also auto spell check on the fly so you would likely see a lot of underlined or highlighted words if there was a program on your computers doing that.

We gained a small chest freezer last year from Gin's grandma, and that got added to the old side-by-side that Gin got, I think, from her brother when he moved into an apartment. We're thinking about an over/under fridge/freezer for the garage though, for storage of beverages and Ben & Jerry's
Having paid out a significant amount of money for the electrics in the house to be sorted out at the end of last year (the PO must've worn a Stetson, he was that much of a cowboy!), the garage has had to be put on hold for electrics, so two normal light bulbs it is. Mind you, the garage and sun room above it could not have passed any sort of inspection...

No kidding, I've bought a number of houses, and I think it's fair to say that all have had some sort of electrical issues, badly connected switches, missing earths, a partially complete rewire project with reverse polarity, mystery switches, inverted sockets, surface mount sockets placed that make it impossible to properly situate the cooker or the dryer, and breaker boxes with circuits apparently grouped at random on individual breakers. I could probably write a book on the subject, and I'm not even an electrician!
