I thought there was a tornado alley; that's half the country!

And have you seen the length of some of those tracks - I didn't realise tornadoes could travel so far!

We have had a few warnings here, we keep a weather radio plugged in however once it goes off we have to close the door to the room it is in so my youngest can not see it (it has coloured lights), she is absolutely petrified, I am glad we are not further south in the mid states for that reason.

There is a tornado alley but tornado, like deer who can't read the "deer next 5 miles" sign, can occur anywhere the terrain and weather conditions are right. We have experienced them here in Westchester County and Bronx County, NY and in Massachusetts.

Wow thats an amazing picture. I too had no idea they were so widespread.
Is there a map like this of earthquakes, then the whole country could pretty much be covered by 'things you don't want to live with'

I think I read that FEMA, the Federal Emergency and Management Agency did a study to find the one part of America that is least likely to suffer from natural disasters. The answer was Winchester Virginia, which is why they have their headquarters there, so the legend goes.
