No but the black bears here are thriving I saw a mother and three well grown cubs the other day a first for me.
The blueberries this year a firm favorite with the bears had very large berries but not many of them.

Friends have found a glut of conkers. I've not seen conkers here in years.

Seven days ago we mulched the bed under the edge of the oak tree near our house. This is what it looks like today!

I didn't quite get my glove in the picture, to give scale, but that is about 1ft x 2ft.

Here in England it's like summer still, except for the short days. Trees are still 95% green, just a hint of brown leaves in places. Incredible difference from northern New York, where maple trees have gone through their colour spectrum and are now almost bare, and the oaks are all brown (their leaves drop more gradually.)

We have a heavy crop of acorns this year. I haven't checked the sweet gum yet, nor the hickories, but the hollies and dogwoods have been loaded with berries.

What is the crop of tree seeds and berries like in your neck of the woods this year?

Tree seeds no idea, berries didn't seem to be the best, wild berries anyhow, long dry summer didn't help the berries.

The weather here this summer was just about perfect for the indigenous trees and fruits - not especially hot, and frequent but not excessive rain. I can't imagine a better year for nut and seed production.

Weird year. Heavy crop of acorns on red oak, none on white oak. Butternut, lots of. Wild edible apple trees, no apples, but some of the crab apples have plenty. Lots of wild grapes in the hedgerows.

Right now, the chipmunks are having a field day on our deck, delicately eating the little seeds from the sugar maple. I tried eating one yesterday, it was very bitter. (Tannins?)

Crab apples... Buried in 'em. All the other trees have plenty of fruit on them, but it was already past it's best almost before it had finished growing. Pretty much rotting whilst still on the trees.

I haven't tried a Chipmunk myself, but I am not surprised there is a bit of an aftertaste.

The apple trees in our area are the same, producing nothing or only a VERY paltry crop this year. Many fruit trees in this part of the country don't grow a full crop every single year, I've noticed. Two years ago we had wonderful tasty apples falling around us everywhere. Last year & this year, only a few green, sour, mealy ones.....

Not sure what nuts are falling from the trees, but the copious amounts of squirrels means our puppy is going instinct crazy as a hunting/herding dog and trying to get these squirrels.

If it's not squirrels, she's rounding up possums in the evening that are foraging the fruits and fallen stuff in the gardens around here.

A very common phenomenon, I was always told that the biennial cropping was due to the tree having to recuperate from the heavy cropping year, and that a way around it was to very seriously thin out a lot of the apples in a heavy cropping year, perhaps by as much as 50% and then they should revert to giving you a decent crop each year.

Yeah, I'm with you on this one.

I was up north visiting in-laws in Wisconsin at the weekend and their yard was full of oaks and white pines. Oaks and pines as far as you could see

Acorns are scarce here, but hickory, walnuts, persimmons, are plentiful, paw paws were patchy as usual. Our apple and pear trees had very heavy crops, blueberries were a little below average but very large berries.
