Bought a ton of beer and food and all the tacky merchandise and flags etc.
It's my kids' first Independence Day in the US as USCs, and my first as a foreigner.
We will spend the day with family and the wander down to Imperial Beach to take in the fireworks, which the kids absolutely love.
I start my new job on Monday morning so it will be a double celebration for me after several months of unemployment

The attachment is all over my Facebook today, but it so offends the flag pedant in me, as that was not the British flag until 1801. ARrrrggggghhhh!!!

There is another holiday in Canada, Loyalist Day, which is celebrated on June 19, where it is celebrated. It celebrates the United Empire Loyalists who emigrated to New Brunswick and Nova Scotia after the bloody French tipped the balance in favour of the rebels. I believe it's observed in various provinces, but really only celebrated in NB and NS.
The French royalty paid the price later for opening a Pandora's Box. Better they had concerned themselves with increasing the food supply so the people could eat cake.

First time we've lived near a lake, and who knew. Seems people who live on a lake throw lots of parties
. So we walked down to the local park and sat by the lake and watched loads and loads of fireworks go off. Can even see them go off in the city! In all the years I've lived in the US, I've never seen so many fireworks get set off. Happy July 4th everyone!

The best part for me was scuttling back to my apartment after the fireworks to watch everyone else traipse back to their cars (before sitting in hours of traffic) from the comfort of my armchair

You're all over analyzing this. Anyway, the Stones were frickin epic in Indy and the whole experience was great. I last saw them at Wembley in '95 but they were as good as ever. I'm still coming down from the contact high of being in a crowd of 50,000 of whom about half were toking! Peace, love and rock and roll man.
