CNN has not called AZ, and only called 3 of the 4 Maine EC Votes for Biden.

It's simple, you have to get an absolute majority to be elected (50% + 1 vote)

If that doesn't happen, the top 2 go again.

Warnock will get clobbered by Loeffler without Collins in the race to split the vote.

But I think his question may be, why multiple candidates. I believe it's because there was a death or resignation or whatever, so even though this is the 'general' election, this particular race is being treated as a primary, with the 'general' being set for Jan.

Actually I approve of a system where one cannot win an election without 50% + 1. But, I prefer a ranked voting system, first choice and a second choice vote in that situation. Nothing sillier than someone winning an election when maybe 65% of voters voted against him or her.

Indeed, it's because Louffler was appointed.

There are no primaries for appointed seats in GA, so it's a jungle system.

Given someone mentioned that Wisconsin only has about 300 votes outstanding, and the margin is 21k, why is it hard to call?

Michigan is done, Arizona and Nevada seem statistically done. PA could be close, Georgia likely stays Republican but by a very small margin. On to the Courts I guess.

Wisconsin called for Biden by CNN, finally.

Is Pennsylvania just playing a long trick on Trump? He's going to implode soon.

Who cares about PA? Hold NV, AZ and MI, all of which Biden are leading in, and he's home. That's 270 exactly.

PA is interesting since it's one of the three states that won 2016 for Trump. Might not be mathematically needed but 290 electoral votes is more convincing than 270, every little helps I guess.

At this point it doesn't matter to me personally if it's 270 or 290. The mandate is gone, he won't have one, the senate is likely gone with Collins getting reelected, so it's more McConnell gridlock.

All that matters is removing Trump and his rhetoric, and 270 will do that.

But if it's only 270, Trump will fight to the death to overturn results, and any one state will give it to him. But if Biden gets two, or three more states, that makes it so much harder for Trump to steal the election.

Yep, maybe NC can come through rumours of votes left at the USPS depot,

I think he'll get PA too the mail in ballots where heavily blue according to voter registration.

But yep 270 will do!
