Re: 2020 Election
We don't strictly speaking 'need' the $2400 that we got. We are both 'essential' and are still working and making our bills just fine, but I'm not giving it away - I'm going to put it on the mortgage. That's 2 payments less we'll have to make
I suppose threes an argument to invest it and let it make more money long term, but I'd rather pay down our personal debt.

Oh I agree, I don't take offence to it, it's a fact.
The only people that are being 'stimulated' by me paying down my mortgage is the holders of the Mortgage Backed-Securities, and they sure as hell don't need it in all likelihood.
Could I find something to go spend the money on? Probably, but it would be something frivolous. I'd rather use it for a purpose.

But since Republicans typically live in the more rural areas, they don't need to take anywhere near the risk that urban democrats have to face when voting. Last time I voted in the Presidential race here in Scottsdale, AZ, it was a walk in the park - no lines, no crowds.

“I know South Korea better than anybody," he said.
"It's a very tight... Do you know how many people are in Seoul? Do you know how big the city of Seoul is?"
He then answered his question: "38 million people. That's bigger than anything we have."

That 2008 stimulus initiative did the trick, didn't it? Smooth sailing from there.

Don't jump to so many conclusions, you "don't understand what the problem is here", well there's no problem here.

Remember when Biden said this ...
“I know South Korea better than anybody," he said.
"It's a very tight... Do you know how many people are in Seoul? Do you know how big the city of Seoul is?"
He then answered his question: "38 million people. That's bigger than anything we have."

I'm not sure I understand the thinking behind the "economic impact" checks:
- It's not really enough money to help people who are truly impacted. They're better served by unemployment insurance anyway.
- It's by definition a demand stimulus. Demand is not the problem with the current situation.
- It's being sent to a lot of people who really don't need it.

Could have a big effect on 'low propensity' voters-- the kind that don't vote unless their local political machine or labor union harangues them several times and drives them to the polls in a van etc...

I just watched the Donald Trump sideshow aka press conference. I noticed some of the puppeteers strings were showing. Six more months and the New York District attorney can open it's Trump vs New York State criminal case.

"The state attorney general is threatening criminal prosecutions against pro-voting activists.'
Surely, if the state supreme court supports this position, can it not be appealed to the US supreme court?
