I think that America likes to manufacture outrage against the spouses of politicians, usually unfounded. Michelle Obama is actually the most popular political figure in the US at the moment. I say political figure because she doesn't hold an elected position but she's still very influential because she is beloved. She's even more popular than her husband who may be the most popular lame duck president in the history of the US ... somebody may be along to correct me.

Michelle Obama has grown into her role by managing to find her voice without sounding defensive on tough issues. I always found her relatable because she is a lot like myself and the women of my generation, but she didn't always come across as likable. She wasn't always excited about the presidency of her husband, and the stress and danger it would inflict upon her family, and sometimes she wasn't smooth enough to hide it. She's plenty smooth now.

If one good thing comes out of this election, I hope it's that it has shone a light on the everyday misogyny and sexual harassment that women still have to suffer.

but to answer your question, she paints herself as above politics and basically holier than than thou (like most dems), but the reality is, she has an agenda like everyone else, and no amount of contrived water works can pretend otherwise. how she can give a speech like that with all the historic allegations against bill clinton, some of them actual offenses, like getting his dick out and demanding paula jones kiss it, then having to pay her off to avoid a criminal trial. well, it's self righteous hypocrisy. even if you want to believe bill clinton didn't rape anyone, he most certainly did plenty of stuff that should make michelle obama's skin crawl if we're to take this speech seriously

I agree, although I doubt it will do more than shine a light on something of which every thinking person is already well aware. We should be able to expect something more. This entire election has been a nightmare; and after we wake up on November 9 it will continue to be a nightmare for the next 4 to 8 years.

On another note, has anyone read the wikileaks transcript of HRC's speech to the Goldman Sachs people? Interesting, and her grasp of the international issues shows how Trump could never hope to compete with her. Perhaps only Rubio had a chance.
