2016 Election

Or France, Germany and the UK. Apparently this whole negotiation thing wasn't just Obama sitting at a table face to face with the Ayatollah. There was actual negotiation as opposed to just sitting there saying "no" all the time, which is something missing from Congress these days.
The Iranian people are actually very moderate and well educated. Perhaps even more so than most Americans. Yes the outward face of shouting Ayatollahs and foaming at the mouth about the great satan is all very showy and sounds bad. Open up the country a bit, get some American companies in there selling stuff and the political base will shift gradually.
Iran could potentially be a huge ally in the region, to bomb it into submission or even threaten to do so would on the otherhand really mess things up.

Between ****abee's bloviating, Ted Cruz calling Mitch McConnell a liar from the floor of the senate, and Donald Trump as the standard bearer, this has quickly become a race to the bottom.

I don't think the hardliners in Iran sound anymore batshit crazy than Mike ****abee talking about shoving the Jews into the ovens. FFS.

Isn't the revelation that a politician is a liar about as high up on the surprise chart as night time being dark?

Would you care to restate any of this based on the obvious inaccuracies in your earlier post? You've been provided the links. Sounds like you are perhaps taking the Faux Noise line on this one ...

So the Donald got away with calling Mexicans 'rapists', and he got away with insulting McCain and war veterans. I'm wondering if (hoping) his Achilles heel may just be religion ... surely he can't b/s his way with all the evangelicals in the party.
BTW - Leslie, as our resident historian, was Rachel Maddows correct about the 'Ross Perot' issue?

Hey folks. I actually don't really much care about this deal. Among all the 'outstanding' policies of Obama, this Iran deal could care less to me... I was just pointing out my opinion. Those who really are scared and don't like this deal are the Jews and all the Sunnis in the region: I live far away from there and, I repeat, I couldn't care less.
I didn't know that I drew a lot of criticism from the pro-shiites and pro-iranians in this forum ;-) ;-)

They are showing dumb adverts telling me that the deal is bad and should be better, without actually giving any solution. It's the political equivalent of calling someone a poopy head.

I had no idea Trump was Mexican. We really need to see that birth certificate.

It was a very volatile time in general. AIDS activism was at its height (think Dallas Buyer's Club) and it was very divisive. Freddie Mercury had just died and Magic Johnson had just been diagnosed. Racial tensions were in the danger zone, there was Rodney King and the LA riots. People were definitely picking sides. IMO what Perot did, that may be different than what is traditionally reported about that election, is he may have helped activate some otherwise apathetic Democrats. For me personally, I found the prospect of him being elected quite frightening --- he was much more scary than GHW Bush.
Despite Perot's populist platform, he was (is) a narrow minded rich white guy from Dallas and he came across as such. He alienated black people as well as gay people with he attitudes and policy proposals. I have a hard time believing that very many people looked at it as a toss-up between him and Bill Clinton.

As for the original point: According to the Wiki page, it looks Maddow's point is valid as Perot wasn't the reason Bush lost.
