Interesting debate between Zargof and Dakota44, though.

Any reaction by the über politically correct elite here to Trump's foreign policy address this afternoon?
Summed up here better that I ever could.

Great discussion earlier. This is the way that I see things ...

The source of the excessive inter-party bitchiness is the fact that Sanders, and Trump for that matter, is/are not party loyalists. It seems obvious to me that at some point, prior to announcing, both of these Independent candidates made the cynical choice to run under the party name rather than as Independents. They would have consulted the "experts" and been advised that running as a third-party candidate would be political suicide and the rest is history.

In all fairness, both parties were completely cynical for having ever "welcomed" the two of them into the tent when they had no intention of ever backing either candidate. Both parties had already picked their nominees. Or, in the case of the GOP, narrowed the nominee down to NOT include Trump. This is what the parties get for pretending to be open when they really are closed. They wanted Bernie and Trump to behave like potted plants.

Fast forward to today. Now that the two interlopers have done waaayyyyy better than anybody ever thought possible, the nasty truth about all of these bad actors, exhibiting bad behaviors, is being exposed in the bright lights.

Bernie and Trump are running as candidates within parties to which they hold no loyalty. They've both fought the establishment every step of the way. The establishment(s) have been scheming against both of them, and rigging the game against them, from jump.

This is why Bernie, and his followers, aren't falling in line. They're Independents, not Democratic party loyalists. They just don't give a shit. There's a lot that going around at the moment.

Some on both sides may hold their noses and still vote but in the main agree.

Very few politicians like each other. You want a friend, get a dog.

Obama will do whatever he can to get HRC elected.

I agree with all of this, but will add a few things.

It's understandable that Bernie and Trump would run within the parties. It's way easier to get the publicity and money needed that way. Trump could have run as an independent and probably done pretty well, but would have split the conservative vote and given the Democrats an easy win. Plus it's easier to change the system from within.

Plus, it's not really about either of them, rather all they done is channel the "this is all bullshit" movements that were already there, Tea Party on the right and Occupy on the left.

As for the parties themselves what could they have really done to stop them? They both moved away from the smoke filled rooms and to an open system. So now to run in the primary what do you have to do? Fill out some paperwork and pay some fees, gather signatures to get on the ballot? I mean if you really wanted to, you could run in the Dem primary.

It will be interesting to see if the this is bullshit movement will keep going after this election and whether it will get bigger.

Presumably it's a (desperate) attempt to garner support in California.

Perhaps, but to me the timing suggests it's an attempt to stay relevant after getting destroyed by Trump on Tuesday.

Bad move since she is not popular there. Might lose him votes.

In a general election, probably, but California is unlikely to vote Republican anyway. In the June primary, I can certainly see arguments that it might tip some Republican voters towards Cruz.
