There is no correlation between primary results and general election results. If anything, the correlation works in reverse.

Primaries attract relatively few voters. Those on the fringes end up with disproportionately loud voices as a result.

Historically, candidates with dominant leads in primaries have often failed miserably in the general election (John Kerry and Barry Goldwater being two examples) while those who barely made it (Bill Clinton and Barack Obama being two examples) have gone on to win two terms in the White House.

The reality is that it will be very difficult for the Democrats to lose the White House in November. Just take the 2012 map and look for vulnerabilities, and you'll find that there aren't enough to matter.

Am I the only one to think Cruz and his wife's displays of affection smacks of Al and Tipper Gore's phoney displays?

Intimate physical contact with his creepiness is unique unto itself.
It reduces his wife to a partner in exhibitionistic public smarm.
Makes me wanna

Maybe Bernie during his audience with the Pope might mention that over population of the planet is an increasing planetary crisis and the Church of Rome's policy on birth control or lack of it has contributed somewhat to this situation

Nice article about Cruz - explaining just how far right he is. There's no way this guy could possibly win ... (he said, hopefully ...)

Cruz would be the most conservative nominee in generations - POLITICO

quote: "... should the Texas senator win the nomination, he would be the most conservative Republican presidential choice in several generations — to the right even of Barry Goldwater, the party’s 1964 nominee, who was clobbered by Lyndon Johnson.

Cruz's numbers versus Clinton nationwide are far closer than you might think

Not sure how long you've lived in the States, but half the country still go to church on a regular basis and probably just as much don't believe in abortion or gay marriage. The liberal media's narrative that the GOP is increasingly a fringe party that don't represent anyone beyond nutters, therefore, is as much inaccurate as it is offensive

I have in laws in various parts of the States, most of them liberals who are for abortion etc but they aren't gonna vote for Clinton should she win the nomination. I don't think Dem enthusiasts realize just how toxic she is out there. I mean, what does she even stand for? Everything she stays is a cliché Dem line. The town halls she's done have brutally exposed her as an absolute lightweight who will say anything to get an applause and votes, at least Cruz (and Trump to a lesser degree) have agendas that require a modicum of courage to explain/defend

Yes, lots of Americans go to church. Doesn't make them especially conservative, or automatically Republican voters though! In fact I think a lot of Christians would find your assumption that Chritianity = Conservatism offensive.

In my neck of the woods, the Presbyterian, UU, Roman Catholic and Episcopal churches are full to overflowing for services. (And those are all good sized churches, in my comparatively small village..)

A goodly proportion of those folks will be voting Democratic or Working Families party...

It's unnatural and forced and I don't know why they feel the need to do that. I actually believe that Ted and Heidi love each other --- I don't need to see full on kissing to have it proven to me.

A little hug and/or peck on the cheek is fine for public consumption. Most people would look ridiculous kissing in public, no matter how deeply the care for each other. Some have the good sense to not to go there.

I enjoyed the hell out of (re)watching the videos of Rove's complete meltdown --- and it even lasted for days after the election was over. Yet another psychology term comes to mind, cognitive dissonance.
