Re: 2016 Election
You know, it's been widely assumed that if Clinton or Sanders won the white house, they would both be blocked by a republican Congress for at least two years, likely resulting in a single-term presidency. OK I'll buy that.
But what about a Trump presidency? Zero support from both Democrats and Republicans? Both sides determined to put his lights out? How productive could that possibly be? Or might that hold a faint promise of "enemy of my enemy is my friend"? Democrats and Republicans rallying around a common cause? Say it's not true... |
Re: 2016 Election
On the first point, some people are suggesting that not only would Trump lose but in doing so would help the Dems regain control of Congress or at least the Senate.

Re: 2016 Election
Early days, yet, but - some reassuring data in this article: Anti-Trump forces seize on grim polls for Clinton match-up
"There have been six national surveys released this week testing a Trump-Clinton match-up, and Clinton leads in every single one. Clinton has an 11-point advantage over Trump in the RealClearPolitics average of national polls. In a Bloomberg survey released this week, Clinton ran up an 18-point lead over Trump. In all of those polls, Trump does worse against Clinton than the other two GOP contenders still in the race. Ted Cruz trails Clinton, but by a smaller margin, while John Kasich beats Clinton in every poll. Meanwhile, a Monmouth University survey found that Clinton’s advantage over Trump extends to the swing states that will be critical in determining who wins the White House.

Clinton leads Trump 46 to 41 in the 10 states where the margin of victory for the winning candidate in 2012 was less than 7 points, and she leads 49 to 36 in the 10 states from 2012 where the margin of victory was between 7 and 12 points.

Re: 2016 Election
It's gonna be fascinating to see how, what for now seems a quixotic quest by Bernie for the nomination....how it pans out.
Re: my post above - Apparently, for Bernie these polls will be a crucial tool in his effort to woo the army of Super Delegates currently in Hillary's thrall - to switch allegiance to him. (They're free to do so at any time - plus many have not yet pledged allegiance to either candidate). Tilting at windmills? Probably. Or.... maybe not :fingerscrossed: Bernie Sanders - The *Eolic* Candidate  http://www.thenewecologist.com/wp-co...ind-energy.jpg |
