2016 Election

Re: 2016 Election
They were mainly activists that support Sanders. Is it really a surprise that the candidate who is calling for political revolution is supported by so many activists?

No surprise at all. Especiallly the Uni crowd who face massive debt for their degrees and no doubt feel the whole deck is stacked against them.

I don't think anyone on here is going to disagree that the Dem's were the party of racism in the past. It's a well understood fact. But it's also true that those racists left the Dems and joined the R's as a result of the civil rights movement. They were actively courted by the Rs as a source of votes, and it explains a lot about the R's today. There's no question in my mind that today, the R party is the racist party.

Shhhh...madpooper will have a brain cramp. Especially do not remind him that the protesters were excercising their freedom of speech and right to assemble. And never tell him about the heavily armed right wingers that showed up at Obama rallies to, no doubt, intimidate.
The protesters/activists have a right to peaceful assembly and protest.
Trump and his supporters have a right to enjoy free speech.
(Neither are absolute, and are subject to some conditions).
As much as you or I disagree with the crap that Trump is spouting, it seems to me like his meetings are being gatecrashed by large groups of people attempting to disrupt him exercising his rights.
I abhor that kind of behavior, regardless if the 'side'. It disrespects the constitutional freedoms that were put in place for people of all political persuasions.

Re: 2016 Election
Why are you so determined to believe some of them aren't morons? Because they're supporting a campaign you think is virtuous? That's a pretty arrogant way of looking at things
Young people, especially students (I was one myself not too long ago, btw), tend to think they know everything when they actually know very little about the real world. I doubt many of them even know what socialism means, and offer examples of live TV interviews with them that back this up:

Re: 2016 Election
Given the large number of idiots in this country it would be easy to find some that support each of the candidates.

Does Trump even know what Socialism means ? Displaying his usual blustering ignorance he described Bernie Sanders as our "Communist friend"

Someone in his position who is running for President of the most powerful nation on earth, the defender of freedom and democracy should have said nothing when a protestor was gut punched by one of his supporters instead of declaring that the protester "probably deserved it".

Re: 2016 Election
I was thinking of that survey that compared candidates voter base on 3 or 4 contentious questions. I think Kasich's base came out best, Trump worst, Bernie's, base was not where I would hope it to be.

Re: 2016 Election
This is scary stuff, to know that unthinking, poorly-educated, low-information, strongly opinionated morons like these will decide who gets to nominate up to at least 4 Supreme Court justices - with consequences that will reverberate for decades to come. And these are university students, our brightest and best, at least in their own minds. I'm not saying they should be denied the vote, simply that it is frightening to know that the future of our society is in their hands.
I still struggle to understand how you end up with two such distinctly different 'flavors' of legal interpretation.
