I'm thinking about that ferret faced thing in the Ice Age movies.

Yes I remember the Bush, Gore hanging chads fiasco in Florida. They certainly chose a real winner there

Perhaps not quite what you were looking for, but close? Not rodential, but weasely?

Thanks for the link. Messy, arcane situation.

Here's what I got from it:
  1. state caucuses are paid for by parties, and they can set the rules/process, and date.
  2. state primaries are paid for by the state, and the state sets the rules (open/closed, etc).
  3. But it seems like the state has to abide by the national party in terms of the date of the primary ... which seems very odd ("If states abide by the rules that the national parties have set for 2016, the four so-called carve-out states — Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina — will all hold their respective primaries and caucuses in February.
I guess I also learned that the parties prefer to allow a small state to be the first to reduce the cost (and/or, reduce the relative influence of the richest candidate) - imagine having to carpet-bomb CA or NY with ads; and also, they prefer it to be Iowa and NH because they are known entities (better the devil you know ...).

This cannot be over-stated. CA and NY really don't matter, which is a f**ing tragedy.

So if it's Rubio and Clinton ... Rubio has said he'll ban abortion, kill Planned Parenthood, kill Obamacare, fight efforts to stop Global Warming, fight gay marriage, and so on. I can only hope the moderates / independents are outraged enough to vote for Hillary.

As for Obamacare ... at one point, the 'simple statistic' was that more people were opposed to it than in favor; but the more subtle statistic was that a good number of those who opposed it did so because it did not go far enough; so does anyone know what the numbers are today if you group those in favor with those who think it didn't go far enough? I would hope that would be a bigger predictor of voting intention.

Not sure if this should go here, or the WTF thread, but it appears that Trump has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. This isn't real is it?

What, this guy?

Scrat. That seems a vaguely appropriate nickname for Cruz as well.
