It's not been decimated. It's been downsized which makes sense at this time.
Far more to worry about are cyber attacks from a hostile nation. Attacks that could close down whole power grids, water supplies, transport, health services, cause near total paralysis but I wouldn't expect Trump to see that as more likely a future form of warfare. He's still back in 1970

According to this article, the US' investment in its military cavalry had been severely depleted since the end of World War I.

Thanks, Obama.

This just in from Canada:

Monica Lewinsky released the following statement on Hilary Clinton's run for President:

"I will not vote for Hilary Clinton. The last Clinton presidency had
me on my knees and left a bad taste in my mouth. As we get closer to
the 2016 election year, Clinton's election promises are getting harder
to swallow. Citizens must remember that they cannot even trust Hillary
Clinton to create American jobs. The last time she had a meaningful
job, she outsourced it to me and I simply blew it"

- Monica Lewinsky

I suspect Lewinsky would be capable of spelling "Hillary" correctly even if she were blowing Bill at the time.

I agree that one would think Monica would know how to spell "Hillary" correctly, after all she's been through with that family.

I agree the possibility of a surge, especially based on his performance in the debate. Are you looking at something specific that predicts a surge, or is it just a premonition?

This may swing a lot of people in Iowa. Talk about scumbag.
He Said He Was An Undecided Iowan Until He Received This Controversial Mailer From Ted Cruz.

Rubio seems to have loosened up. He did look much more adult in the debate. What I'm really looking at is the complete and utter foulness (I'm not sure if that is a word but hey ho) of Ted Cruz. Cruz surged too early - Thank you Jesus! We know Trump is going to win in Iowa. If Trump doesn't win then we've all been pranked on a colossal level. So, the interesting placement is within second and third place. In this particular case, timing is everything and Rubio is looking good on the trail.

EDIT: Specifically to your question about a premonition .... I wouldn't call it a premonition but it is psychic or psychological shift in the wind.

He's a future President, even if this isn't his year.

He does have an air of over enthusiasm when he debates though. He needs to breathe more when talking.

He sounds dry-mouthed sometimes as if his tongue is too big or he just smoked a doobie and has cotton-mouth. It harkens back to when he did that silliness with the water bottle and I've noticed that, during the debates, he hits the water bottle more obviously than any of the other candidates.

The NYT Editorial Board has endorsed John Kasich on the Republican side. That should be the kiss of death to any faint hope he had. The equivalent on the other side would be for The Stormfront to endorse Bernie.

Kasich had already received my kiss of death on this thread a while back. So the NYT endorsement is just icing on the cake.

Your kiss of death is one thing, but did other posters on this thread endorse him? That would be almost as devastating as a NYT endorsement. I don't remember Leslie endorsing him.
