The terrorists in question are certainly 'Islamist' but they certainly don't represent the Muslim faith any more than people like the Planned Parenthood shooter represent Christianity.

If we continue to demonize Muslims as an entire demographic in the wake of such events, we're just doing ISIS's work for them. Unity is what will bring them down, division is what they want. It's much harder to radicalize a group of people who aren't made to feel marginalized by the wider world.

Is it fair to say that most of the victims were Christians, therefore if we ban Christians , there would have been less victims?

No, they weren't. Jimmy Carter never said they were either.

Not to mention it's a bit easier to identify an Iranian by their passport than it is a Muslim.

Exactly. You can't look at a passport and say that someone is a Muslim without also profiling them.

You'd have to ban Jews as well. Also Sikhs, Hindus, Zoroastrians, Buddhists ...

Shit, I'm the last person to be an apologist for any religion, but this whole argument is stupid.

If the US were to instigate such a policy (which they won't), I bet many non-Muslims would claim to be Muslim as a matter of principle.

Just leave the atheists and all will be good.

Well, in a way, maybe. At least atheists aren't all killing each other over which work of fiction is the right one to be told how to live your life by.

I think the US should just ban nationals who are members of the OPEC countries

That'll never happen . Though once oil does run out, and it will eventually, that region is royally ****ed.

I'm really, really concerned about radicalized Episcopalians. No telling what those kooks are up to.

If we really want to ban Muslims surely the way is to make them eat a bacon sandwich at the airport. Granted there would be some collateral damage with Jews and vegetarians also missing out. But would fewer vegetarians and their insufferable smugness be a bad thing?

No. I'm with you on that. If they can't enjoy a good bacon sandwich at the immigration counter, let them remain in their own country.

See also: Vegetarian diet and mental disorders: results from a representative community survey The NIH study shows elevated risk of mental disorders associated with vegetarianism, although no causal relationship proved. Could it be that vegetarian kooks and radicalized Episcopalians, both groups with their oh-so-superior and holier-than-thou attitudes are actually suffering mental disorder? Neither group should be allowed to buy guns.
