2016 Election

Re: 2016 Election
Dems debate felt rather subdued tonight. I don't think anyone had a terrific night in particular. I don't see either Bernie or O'Malley taking the nomination from Hillary.

Re: 2016 Election
I nearly fell asleep, woke up for the slight contretemps between Bernie and Hillary--"MY funders are smaller than yours!" "Well, MY funders are 60% women!!"--and a few other mildly heated exchanges, but overall a pretty lukewarm rehashing of mostly old with a few new issues.... :zzZZ:

I will say this though:- if the email "scandal" turns into legal (as opposed to "political") trouble for Clinton, the Democrats are in deep trouble.

I think the email scandal is Obama's ace in the hole and somebody is waiting.

Reminds me of an old joke by Emo Philips
" Once I saw this guy on a bridge about to jump. I said, "Don't do it!" He said, "Nobody loves me." I said, "God loves you. Do you believe in God?"
He said, "Yes." I said, "Are you a Christian or a Jew?" He said, "A Christian." I said, "Me, too! Protestant or Catholic?" He said, "Protestant." I said, "Me, too! What franchise?" He said, "Baptist." I said, "Me, too! Northern Baptist or Southern Baptist?" He said, "Northern Baptist." I said, "Me, too! Northern Conservative Baptist or Northern Liberal Baptist?"
He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist." I said, "Me, too! Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region, or Northern Conservative Baptist Eastern Region?" He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region." I said, "Me, too!"
Northern Conservative†Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1879, or Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1912?" He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1912." I said, "Die, heretic!" And I pushed him over.

I see the nasty biased liberal media were asking Ben Carson hard questions again...

I think that's very generous of you to point out that part of the interview rather than the batshittery about the human brain or the advocating starting a shooting war with Russia over Syria.

Re: 2016 Election
I recently saw an interesting focus piece on .. CNN, I believe. It was about the recent theory of evolution that science has managed to finally prove beyond any dispute, using things like DNA analysis, advanced carbon dating, etc.
Anyway, they had some prominent scientist on who was explaining how Darwin's theory of evolution has now been proven beyond any doubt, and we can now patently call it a "fact".
The interesting part was when the interviewer asked the scientist about the US republican presidential candidates, and how they all passionately adhere to the theory of creationism.
The scientist really tried the best he could to avoid answering that, but finally gave in saying simply (something like) "Well, evolution is an indisputable fact. There's no longer any question about it. Creationism asserts that everything was created quickly, yet there is no evidence that the evolution of life in this universe was created in anything less than billions of years, if fact, it simply could not happen any sooner as a matter of pure physics".
He was then asked about specific candidates (and I don't remember all his responses, but when it came to Carson, he replied ...something like), "Well, the other candidates have an excuse, because they wouldn't necessarily be qualified to know. But Mr. Carson is an MD. And MD cannot be an MD without an in-depth knowledge of biology and of course ... evolution. The very suggestion that one could be a qualified surgeon, whilst ignoring the very biology of life that proves the theory of evolution, is completely contrary to his profession", and added, "at the very least, this strongly suggests that his belief in creationism can only be to appeal to his political supporters".

Re: 2016 Election
I can't possibly keep up with all of Ben Carson's nuttiness. I was noting that the high-disinformation voters will support Carson's agenda to implement a program that we already have.

Another one bites the dust: Jindal "suspends" campaign. Now he can concentrate fully on ensuring that poorer Louisianans don't have access to healthcare.
