Default Teaching Job in Thailand

Hi,

My cousin is off to Thailand in January to take a teacher training course. She says they train her for 6 weeks which she pay 1k for and then she will be given a job and accommodation.

Has anyone else done this and is it safe for her to be out there on her own?
I am just a bit concerned by what you read in the press as she is very friendly and tends to trust everyone. She has been out there once on a holiday last year apart from that she has not travelled much before.

I would be grateful for any tips or advice to put mine and my families minds at rest!

Where exactly in Thailand?
I have lived in Bangkok on Retirement for10 years
and consider it much safer than London.
There have been Bad Reports in Tourist Beach places like Pattaya, Phuket, Samui - but they are one off and rare.

I moved to Phuket 5 months ago and a good friend here (a German) said to me "Don't worry about the Thais, it's the Farangs you have to watch out for!" (Farang = western expat)

Have to say, so far, this has been true.

She should be ok. I moved to Bangkok the first time and i only knew one person. She will meet people and should be fine. Dont worry!
