Default Six months in Thailand?

Does anyone know if it is possible to stay in Thailand for 6 months of the year? I am nearing retirement but love my New Zealand home (British expat) but also love Thailand and I am thinking of living in each country 50% of the time. I would have to do this to collect my New Zealand pension as you have to be a resident for at least 6 months of the year to get that (unlike the British pension I understand). This suits me anyway as I don't want to permanently leave New Zealand. I know you can get a 60 day visa but is there anyway to stretch this out to 6 months?

You can come in on a 60 tourist visa, get 30 day ext., go out to a neighboring country, apply for another 60 day tourist visa.... This is the easiest. Beware, rules may change. Check out website of Royal Thai Embassy in yr country. New is e.g. that exceeding 180 days/yr makes you liable for tax.
