Default Health Check up in Bangkok

We may be moving to Bangkok with our two young kids. We are currently in Singapore. One of the things I would like to find out is how to find a good GP? So far all the posts I have found on medical care always refer to hospitals. Can anyone recommend a good family doctor - particularly one who is good with small children (1&3 years).
Also any idea of costs for regular doctors visits, etc. Over here the costs have been extremely high as it turns out the medical insurance provided by employer doesn't cover it and we ended up drowning in medical bills here.
Many thanks!

Just go to one of the main hospitals. They have the equivalent of GP's who will speak reasonable english; you can ask to see the same Dr on repeat visits if that's your preference. By western standards they are not pricey - no idea about how this will compare to singapore though.

It's what I did when I lived there (I used BNH on soi convent as it was within 5 mins walk of where I lived). It's also what the locals do - or at least the ones I knew. Hypochondriacs the lot of them - go to the hospital for some minor thing and expect a load of prescription drugs.

The GP system that the UK operates basically doesn't exist here, they won't understand that concept. You go to the hospital for absolutely everything, right from a cold upwards.

You'll be happy with BNH. Its good for the expats and many locals are very happy with it too. I've also had good experience there and the annual medical check department is good too. I now avoid Bumrungrad in Nana, it looks nice, but you're treated as a number and pushed through as quickly as possible, barely given chance to ask questions let alone understand the problem and explanation.

For your company insurance, I have a big excess on mine too, so anything that's not covered by the insurance is at least covered by my company, which I think is normal expectation since you're 'working away from home'. ;-)

Costs will vary depending upon what you need of course. One thing I learnt though... an ultrasound scan can cost twice as much as a CT scan! Considering the CT has more detail, check the costs first if they're suggesting the ultrasound, before you end up having both done in the end.

All the best - Let us know if you have more questions...
